While it's exciting to watch a lot of runs being scored in the manner Maxwell and Watson are hitting them I don't like the idea of 700 runs being scored in day. I still prefer to see a game where the bowlers have some say in dictating things.
No surprise the most entertaining game so far had a combined total score of about 300, I think the biggest problem is Australian pitches. We just haven't seen these huge scores in New Zealand despite the smaller boundaries

Wonderful spell this from Faulkner, on a pitch offering nothing for anyone else his stump to stump variations are the only thing keeping Sri Lanka in check, massively deserved wicket of Dilshan that really hurts Sri Lanka. It's so easy to just say we'll blow them out of the water with pace but variation in the attack is so important in these forms, Nathan Bracken made a career out of it.
By the way how good is Russel Arnold on commentary!? He steers discussion back towards the cricket, picks up all the small intricacies that add to the game for a viewer and he seems to force the other guys to step up to his level of discussion because he forces contributions from them. He's been great with Warnie and Tubby who have terrific insight to give but get sucked into the boys club discussion. Excellent commentator

It's reached the point where it's actually funny watching how we'll screw up a run out where the batsman is stranded. We invent ways to miss run out chances.

I've been assured it's just my imagination... Time after time after time that he screws us. He should never be allowed to umpire Australia, England, or Pakistan

I missed it. What happened?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
Batsman stranded in the middle of the pitch, throw to the bowler's end from about 10m away, bowler thinks about letting it go, then thinks about taking it, then fumbles it, then tries to regather it, meanwhile the batsmen could have run 3.

It's because there is no convention that bowlers stand over the stumps any more so they just get into a sort of nowhere land near the stumps but not near enough to do anything useful.
Sending Chandemal off was stupid. The rationale was he couldn't un quickly and was holding the scoring back. but he was in the zone and had got to 50 of 22 balls. They would have better not to let his hamstring cool down. Even if he can come back out now he won be able to play the same.

If he costs them 4 runs an over because he can't back up for 2's and 3's it makes some of his boundary hitting redundant, I would have made the same call if I were Matthews.
