Could we go with a pre tournament like Tennis grand slam wild cards? A made for pay TV event and the finalists get entry?

It's a bit too long and slow at the moment. The regular 270-320 scores are a little tiring, although Southee was great. I'd love to see some more.

The UAE Ireland game was as exciting as any game could be. I picked up bits from the net and really wished I could have had time and opportunity to watch. A real ebb and flow through both innings. Managed to watch the last 4 overs over the web and it was just fantastic.

Reduction to 10 sides will eliminate this type of clash.

I am enjoying watching the minnows, but agree the tournament is a bit long and perhaps they can re look at the scheduling.

I'm desperately trying to remember if they do something similar for the T20 Cup competition. I don't mind the idea of a playoff simply because it means we preserve the minnows in the World Cup in some form, as BulldogJoe said yesterday's game was the best of the tournament thus far.

Re: Icc cricket world cup 2015

The tournament has been a bit of a joke so far.

There is no momentum whatsoever. I know one Australian match has been washed out - but only playing once a week is ridiculous. And the scheduling on Saturdays - when local cricket is played, and when people tend to have social events, means they don't capture the tv audience like a sunday match would.

This tournament (as well as the last 2 world cups) is going a long way to killing the 50 over format. Compare the world cup to the Big Bash or IPL. The Big Bash is on free to air tv every day, your team is likely to play every 3-4 days (which would be possible for 50 over format as well) and the interest is held throughout the tournament because it held over a short period.

It is staggering to me, that Australia v Bangladesh couldn't have been played a couple of days later, after the wash out. The tournament goes for 6-7 weeks - and they couldn't find a replacement game? In the meantime, we miss an opportunity to gain 2 valuable points. Whereas, if we lose to NZ this weekend, the prospect of making the final becomes harder again because we only have 1.5 wins on the board.

I've completely lost interest in the tournament so far. Not sure how I will go with it once we get through the early rounds.

Agree Ozza, if I weren't a keen cricket follower I wouldn't even know the tournament was on. As it is I couldn't give a fat rats tossbag such is the little involvement Australia's had.

I think the cricket has been pretty good. The only complaint is the length of the tournament and the scheduling

Some great batting performances from Gayle, Sangakkara, Finch.

Tomorrow's match will be very interesting and we will see how good the Kiwi's really are, and today's Windies v South Africa will also be interesting.

I certainly would be disputing the standard of the cricket. The small bits and pieces I have actually seen have been good. Its more that you'd barely notice that the tournament is happening in Australia. Which is strange, as I can recall the 1992 World Cup - even though I was only 9 years old at the time - seem to be all encompassing. It was on TV all the time, and everyone was talking about it. Even the 1996 world cup in the sub-continent, and 1999 & 2003 - seemed much bigger events than this, where matches were regular and it felt so cut throat.

To think that India v Pakistan, and India v South Africa - has not been on free-to-air in Australia - given the audiences they would generate, is quite remarkable.

As it stands - I've caught the odd glimpse, and from what I hear on the grape vine, Ireland look like winning it!!!

Can't believe the hype around Gayle after belting around some minnows. He has averaged 18 in his last 26 matches, then he smacks some part-timers and some people are calling him the best player in the world. No wonder the West Indies are such a rabble, the celebrations for such a selfish and overrated player, who so consistently gives his team nothing, are off the charts.

Australia have made two changes to the side that thumped England in their World Cup opener, promoting Michael Clarke and Pat Cummins for George Bailey and Josh Hazlewood.

AB DV is a out and out gun. I'm not sure 5 years back many would've picked he and Steve Smith would be the best two batsmen in the world.

                            162 off 66.

Fastest 150 in ODI cricket. Ever. By 80 odd balls better. Wow.

I just watched the last few overs, wow. Over 400, Windies should go home now.

Windies aren't great, but Australian pitches do nothing with the ball now. But that hitting all over the ground is the most astonishing thing I've probably seen.
