I think he can be forgiven the golden duck.

My concern with Watson, is more his mobility. He is slow between wickets and cannot cover as well in the field.
The performance of Mitch Marsh makes Watson's bowling less important.

We had a great win but I still don't like us going into games with just 3 strike bowlers being supported by Marsh, Maxwell and Watson.
Marsh stepped up last night but we are going to need to get Faulkner back into the line-up at the expense of a batsman and I can see Clarke replacing either Bailey or Watson.

The farce at the end was a real howler. Begs the question though (and I realise the ICC has confirmed it was wrong), but under the umpires interpretation, if it had been the last ball of the innings and England needed the run to win then theoretically they could have won the game.

The problem with the dead ball is that whilst Taylor was given out and they attempted the run, the fact was he wan't out and the run (if completed) should have stood. An incorrect umpire decision (the out), under the ICC's interpretation robs the batting team of being able to complete a run.

Personally, whilst the decision has been condemned, I think they umpires actually got it right - a bit like playing to the whistle - as it enabled play to continue to the next stage and whilst in this game it had no bearing, in a much closer game, the ability to score a leg bye to win/tie a contest could be vital.

Strong win from us over England last night. With us making well over 300+ that is always going to be a tough ask to chase in a one dayer. India V Pakistan this afternoon should be good. South Africa playing Zimbabwe at the moment.

The West Indies really are just a sad joke. So many egos, so much undeserved swagger, and get turned over by a bunch of part-timers

Great win by Ireland with a few overs to spare. The West Indies can't keep serving up these type of results and it's alarming for Cricket.

Ps I was at the India v Pakistan match Saturday night. Was an amazing night, incredible atmosphere. Was like being at a major sporting event in an overseas country

They don't have the resources nor the governance to keep up with the modern game.

Agree with your comments on their over the top individualism and swagger.

Interesting you say that. I remember hearing a Viv Richards interview on a plane many years ago and he was talking about team success globally and how this success had an impact on tourism to the West indies. The West Indies don't have much of a global face, but they potentially have a world class cricket team that apparently is in a position to assist the local economy. I'm surprised more resources aren't poured into it.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Well I imagine the different nations that make up the West Indies aren't exactly flush with cash to invest.

True - they spent well in excess of a quarter of a billion US dollars on the 2007 World Cup. Stadium upgrades, new stadiums and what do they have to show for it? How about a strategic cash injection into the cricket team, development of a junior academy? The former never happened and the latter only got off the ground in 2013, the fruits of which we will not see for a decade.

The demise of West Indian cricket is partly their own (board level) fault but how about an investment by the ICC to assist a once great cricketing nation? There's more than enough cash floating around world cricket these days and there is no question that a strong West Indian team makes for more exciting cricket.

I'm not entirely convinced the ICC's most powerful and cashed up members are interested in the West Indies representing anything other than cannon fodder.
