Yeah sure but they don’t have that much, and they’ll be running out of time before their kids want to get paid they are stacked to levels we haven’t seen before. Trac on 1.4. My point is they can’t have their cake and eat it too on a free hit on Marra for no salary - we’ll cover costs but they need to pay for it like a salary dump, which they’ve done in the past ie Geelong

It would be a good use of our salary cap space provided we’re not bringing in a big name

I don't disagree on the JUH point and for sure they look like having issues going forward with the level of talent they have on their list.

However I can understand that they can probably accommodate the extra $700-800k (approx) going from Flanders to Petracca. Whether they have extra room for JUH, I have no idea. Hopefully they don't and we can take advantage like you suggest.

They might also get JUH to tear up his contract and sign for say $500k per season over 2 years.

Yeah they’ll make it work, just hope we stand our ground on this really don’t want to be paying him to make a contender better whilst we carry all the risk. Difficult situation, I’m sure Power & Regan will be all over it

A good scenario for GC would be commit to the reported 800k salary, but spread over two years with some performance markers to get the second year/second lot of 400k.

If they're planning to give us nothing for Jamarra AND make us pay his contract, I hope we laughed in their face. It's either
We pay his contract but get a decent pick, OR
They pay his contract and we get a very late pick.

Ed Langdon still looked alright when I watched this year. Wonder if we could get a look at him in the Melbourne fire sale? Not #1 need but he'd look good on a wing for us.

Yeah this is what I was getting at with there being no push factor for us to pay him now that Wilkie is off the table. Getting off his contract is a nice to have now more than a must.

I'm sure we would all love Bailey Humphrey who Gold Coast say isn't up for trade but just met with Steven King and Nathan Jones....

Obviously it's not likely we have a play at Humphrey but is Ainsworth ains-worth a look (sorry, not sorry) to improve our small forward quality?

St Kilda have told Jack Steele to explore his options , would he be a fit for our side ? a real bull inside mid .
Steele 29 has 3 or 4 good years left in him .

The lead up to this trade period has been absolutely nuts. It's moving towards NFL level trading now.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Not for mine. I can understand us looking at younger inside mids to succession plan for Libba and Treloar but Steele is too old, isn't what he used to be and is starting to look banged up. We might as well have just kept Macrae.

I either want a star like Butters or a cheaper, younger option.

                        Marshall nominates Geelong.
                        no surprise there
I will never see #16 the same!!

I would look at ainsworth and see if we could get him for a second rounder or near that range. Not a bad player and another good half forward. Doubt we are into him however.

Walking past the MCG tonight and saw both a GWS team followed by our guys from recruitment coming out a side door. I wonder if anything brewing.

                              Sam Taylor?

                                Definitely.

Would hope we are in his ear. The small forward roles are still a weakness. West, Weightman and Ainsworth would be a nice trio to match with Naughton and Darcy.
