With Robertson, I can see the appeal in wanting to add him to our list, he's quick and can be a role player, will add depth considering going by a lot of supporters and some in the media that our bottom 6 basically sucks, so I'm all for strengthening that up, surely he would be an upgrade on Poulter, VDM or McNeil?

Over a million a season for 4 years, our offer was crazier than any of their deals imo.

Agree it'll be interesting to see how much hes turned down to stay.

I know the trade period hasn't started but it's getting worse for us by the day. I think most of us agree if we don't get in a lockdown fullback 2026 won't be too different to 2025. Surely list management is cooking up something in the background...
No idea where this Butts thing has come from but he's longer odds than Wilkie.

Not even in the same ball park lol, Silvagni on slightly less for 13 games a year. Aleer on slightly less for what, the 40th best KPD in the league if that. TDK on 1.7mil for a mid range ruck.

How is that not crazier than 1.1 for one of the premier key defenders in the league?

Literally not even in the same stratosphere of crazy

I guess over 4 mil over 4 years for a 30 year old.

Silvagni was a fair bit less a season(300k?).

TDK ill give you, ken bruce stuff.

It's great the Saints have to dig deeper to keep one of their stars. Glad we had a crack too but I was worried about the 1.1m+ we were offering over 4.

Slightly over market price for an excellent player. Hardly crazy overs. Silvagni is a speculative selection and overs for what he has brought to the table. I was keen on Silvagni at a fair price.

Surely this opens the door for us to have a huge (yet ultimately unsuccessful) crack at Butters. No use waiting until next year.

Don't agree, the reason he had his head turned was because our offer was over the top. We knew that was the only way to get his attention, and it worked. Fair play to the Saints stepping up and improving his current deal to keep him.

Look at Jones falling off a cliff.

I don't think we're getting prime Wilkie at 34 years of age so take a year off that and we're at potentially 1.4m a year across three good years and that's before we upped our offer.

I mean Wilkie was always 90% just leveraging us to stay- I don't blame him either.. But its the usual tale, we're the club that drives up the value for a real player's destination.

I'm just freaking over it.. and having a big sook.... I couldn't watch the GF either! I played Out of the Park Baseball 26 for 3 hrs instead on my computer and was much better for it!

For me it was the battle of two Tier 1 players in Dunkley and Smith who both, for whatever reasons (and I get the responses- and largely agree so I'm not trying to re-litigate here ) told the Western Bulldogs to go JAM IT.

Add to that the JUH Fiasco and we're gonna give the guy away to GC for a salary dump - and we can't even spend the $900,000!!!! Cause for some reason no one of any stature wants to come and play footy with Bont, Richards, Naughts, et al, but they're all happy to go play for St. Kilda???? OK..WTF is going on here????? Please lets hope the club doesn't fold and we add a McGovern or a May and then try to sell it as a victorious trade period.

I can hear my long gone Nanna quoting the ad of her day 'I need a Bex and a good lie down!'

                          Others to consider splashing cash at;
                          • Jordon Butts
                          • Jake Kolodjashnij
                          • Charlie Ballard
                          • Daniel Turner
                          • Charlie Comben
                          • Ben Miller
                          • Alix Tauru
                          • Reuben Ginbey
Tauru is young but a gun, we could put a further squeeze on the Saints. Ginbey is undersized but he's a brute and I'd love him.

Otherwise lesser names to consider might be Will Dawson, Jai Serong and Tylar Young,

Failing all that, there's Frost and May.

Looking around the league, there’s really not many key defenders left to target,
                            Crows: Butts
                            Lions: Payne, Gardiner?
                            Hawks: Blanck
                            Tigers: Young, Gray

                            grim reading.

Brennan Cox? I haven't watched much Freo but he seems like he plays deep, is good in the air, probably isn't on enough to not consider a big contract, and is 27.

I should leave it alone but you're not right
