it’s what’s commonly known as the Essendon Method. Has worked well for them 😂 3Comment

The issue is they also bring in top draft talent every year with the academies so they get the best of both worlds (and the FS luck on top!). Even Geelong have had to sacrifice the draft to bring in mature players every year, not Brisbane they can target whoever they want and then pick up top 5 kids for loose change.
the academies are beyond a joke now, you can argue they’ve been a success in deepening the talent pool but if that talent is only going to 4 clubs is the league better off? Enoughs enough - take all academies out of clubs hands and open the draft pool to everyone. Father sons should stay seeing as nearly all clubs have that now, but change the rules to make clubs pay a fair price. Pretty simple stuff👍 2Comment

Look I don’t have any complaints with good players wanting to go to Brissy, a couple of years ago no one wanted to stay but they’ve turned that around as a well run club and they deserve it.

Theyve built a superb list and have been such a well run club to be completely honest, pretty impressive considering where they were not too long agoComment

North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs and West Coast chasing Richmond defender Tylar Young
Richmond key defender Tylar Young is being chased by three rivals including North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs as the Tigers attempt to re-sign their young emerging defenders.
Young defender Campbell Gray has re-signed with the club on a new two-year deal after thriving when he was given a trio of opportunities this season before a June knee injury.
The former mid-season draftee was given chances when Noah Balta was suspended for his summer assault and showed good closing speed to cut down attacking thrusts with his strong spoiling.
Fellow mid-season pick Jacob Blight missed a games-based trigger on his one-year contract and is yet to be offered a deal by the Tigers.
He impressed early on as a key tall who could play at either end and even pinch-hit in the ruck given his huge tank.
Midfielder Thomson Dow has also been told the club will have to wait until they have a better idea of their available list spots before he is told if he is a required player.
Former high level soccer player Young returned from an ACL reconstruction to play the last seven games in Adem Yze’s senior side and rated in the top 20 defenders in the competition in that time.
West Coast is also asking about his availability, with the Roos and Dogs both keen to strengthen their backlines given their issues this season.
The Dogs are keen on Carlton free agent Jack Silvagni but St Kilda is likely to offer five seasons at up to $4m, while the Western Bulldogs have handed him only a four-year offer.
The Roos have youngsters including Will Dawson and swingman Matt Whitlock but 26-year-old Young, a former North Albury and Frankston VFL defender, is a plug-and-play key back.

Based off Gardner’s quite awful performance in his only game this year one would think it would only be in desperate times that we would play him again… so maybe that answers it.Comment

One of Young or Butts, and one of Ridley or Silvagni would be great. We honestly need 2.
Obviously Silvagni as a free agent would be wise considering no need for draft capital, both him and Ridley have injury concerns but I’d back us in to get them right. Both could be fantastic 2nd defenders and significantly move the needle for us if we get their body right.
It’s time to start taking some risks, what do we really have to lose? We finish 10th instead of 9th again?Comment
