It’s not a level playing field though is it. Whether it’s North, Saints or us we’re playing with a hand tied behind our back.

I'm not sure that's the only conclusion you could draw from that.
We could have the best list & recruiting team going around, but if the perception amongst players is we're not in the same
prestige bracket and if that's a major driver for players' decisions then until we change that perception, this will be the outcome more often than not.

If one of the drivers for buying a house is the location and prestige, then the fact you can get a better house for a better price but in a place that doesn't have the prestige you are seeking, then having the best salesperson ain't going to change your decision on most occasions.

If I'm Sam Power. I know Port want pick 7 and we know the money Wingard wants. Just leave the offer out there. Either things change, or Hawthorn have to get close to paying market value. 15 & 35 should be an insulting offer. So just leave 7 there and make Hawthorn work for it, if the reporting is true. Really, who knows now. It could be his managers ploy to force our price up.

Or we just arent a destination club. Us or Hawks, only Dogs supporters would choose us.

Agree. He's not coming to us now. I pretty much thought this would happen as soon as Sheil chose the Bombres. Next?

Unless there is a strategic reason yet to be revealed as to why the club thought it prudent to talk publicly about our interest in Wingard, then I hipe in future they keep things quiet, and save us all the embarrassment of being jilted at the altar time and again.

The Hawks have no doubt pulled out the indigenous cards to attract Wingard.

On the bright side, if this is true - I am not fussed, a bit pissed but pick 7 will give us a pretty good kid. All is not lost.

I don't agree. To me we are the least attractive option in the league. What's wrong with our team ?

I’m not sure that makes sense, seeing as the List Management team has changed since we were looking at Hurley. Plus Hurley stayed at his own club - rather than choosing another destination.
