    Re: The Chad Thread

    I dunno.

    - Rumours Wingard told if he thinks he's worth money to test the market with their blessing then, because they won't pay $900,000 or so.
    - Kochie then goes on radio and tells the world, 'no one is untradable' in a question about Wingard.
    - Wingard then goes to Melbourne and meets with some folks.
    - Wingard's social media (probably manager) starts liking a lot of dogs posts
    - Word gets out that Trengove (as a sticking point...) has been trying to get Wingard to come across for a while
    - Dogs reportedly happy to pay the money he's after or very close to it
    - Robbo puts out a clean up piece in The Hun saying he's staying, and in under 5 minutes he's manager is on Trade Radio calling it bullshit
    - Hinkley then throws out on SEN that Power wants two first rounders. So he's tradable.
    - Power list manager today says essentially the same thing.
    - Hinkley at the airport the other day wouldn't talk about Wingard.
    - Dogs decide today, that we will go public with our interest. Why exactly? I don't know. But if we were shut down by him and his management, there's no way we'd go public to be rebuffed again for no reason.
    - Everyone understands we have a cherry ripe first rounder, including Hawthorn who have moved their intense interest into Shiel. Port also understand that pick is much better than FA compo next year.

It looks like a genuine slow dance in public to me. Port say that they want a good trade, and if so seem open to it. Dogs say they have interest, and many reported we've offered pick 6 and big bucks. Wingard not saying anything, except social media likings. If mature and common sense trading happens, I'm seeing signs that just maybe this is real. We've had a good relationship with Port in the past, if we can find ways giving them what they want but they give us draft points back, and of course Wingard is happy with the money and attitude of a point to prove. Then just maybe, there's cause for some cautious optimism.

      Re: The Chad Thread

Port are desperate to get up the draft order.

They get our pick 6, Norths pick 10 for Polack and their own pick 9 that gives them serious currency to trade up the order and also keep a first round if they want to.

The key is convincing Gold Coast to give up pick 2 or 3.

I firmly believe Wingard is in play for pick 6.

Well, he also threw this up on his Insta stories today ... suggesting there might be a "story" to tell somewhere in there.

I sense every 'yoo-hooo!' from him that appears on a Dogs' Insta post is designed to get the Power's attention rather as much as ours.

The social media stuff is white noise. The rest of my post I think paints a story of something that is possible. Not guaranteed to happen, but every chance of happening. Now we wait and see I guess.

Again, you got us Boyd, and corollary to that a premiership. I have faith in you.

That makes one of us! But facts are facts on recruiting Boyd and me first calling for trading Wingard 12 months ago.

After JMac's last two years under the pump getting unders for various reasons for Hrovat, Hamling, Stevens, Stringer and cutting Crameri who he paid overs for (Grant seemed to play the driving role for Schache). Imagine if Sam Power waltzes into the same job and picks up Wingard first time up? I'm not sure what that says. But that's a hard act to follow next year if he gets The Chad.

                Re: The Chad Thread

AFEL.com.au take on the Wingard post today:

Later that day, Wingard sent out a cryptic message on social media, suggesting the true circumstances surrounding his decision had yet to be revealed.

"You'll hear my side of the story when the time is right dw (don't worry) about that! But unless a statement comes from myself or management don't listen to them," Wingard wrote.

Was it a dig at the media? Was it a dig at Port? It's impossible to be sure.

We can be sure, however, that the interest in Wingard in Victoria is genuine. Western Bulldogs list chief Sam Power confirmed his club's interest on Thursday.

Much remains to play out on this one.

You would hope we'd only go public with some level of confidence from Wingard's management regarding his intent.

That's the way I read it too, I infer some confidence in it. Would be dumb to do it on hope alone. I guess we keep watching this thread just a little longer.

One of the most baffling parts is they had one of the lowest player payments in the league this season. They must have salary cap pressure coming next year but if so, why not shift some payments into 2018?
