Not while they have Norf to deal with and possibly chipping in for GWS & GC if they don't rise up soon. Then there is West Coast, once a great love child of the AFL, and lets hope nothing happens to their little darlings, The Swanettes.

      Crazy investment
But Petracca and Oliver are legit 2 of the best 5 mids in the game. Why wouldn’t they sign them if they could?

Amazing length of time considering his concussion issues.

Same was said with Brodie Grundy at the time.

I notice Tomlinson and Riccardi both omitted this week.

            Could do worse.

              Brayshaw for 6? Ridiculous.

Good player made to look more valuable in a top side, in no world is he worth 6 years.

I reckon he probably got a reality check on the open market, and realised longevity versus cash up front was for him.

Very good player, and prepared to sacrifice his game for the team. I actually think it's a win all round as his cost per season would likely be reasonable.

6 seasons for Brayshaw, a player with such significant concussion history, makes our 4 year offer to Paddy McCartin look reasonable and like an even better idea.

Riccardi was drafted from Werribee wasn't he?

If we have secured Jones as the reports indicate should we also have a look at a cheap addition in someone like Billy Frampton?
Tall defender who was impressive early in the year at Adelaide but once dropped he hasn't regained his spot. He is versatile and can play in a few positions.

Sounds like the Tim O'Brien sales pitch.

I don't like any of this. I just can't see how adding average players - who we KNOW to be average - to our squad helps in any way.

To me Frampton would be a 'break glass in case of emergency' type player. Would we not be better off grabbing someone who hasn't had the opportunity at AFL level yet and just 'find out' if throwing them in a professional environment reveals a player?

As an aside - I like Billy and coached him for a couple of years...I think he has done really well to get everything out of himself and convert himself from a ruck only player to someone who can at least compete as a KPD at AFL level. I just don't think he is the answer to ANY question that pertains to the structure of our backline.

I think we have been going in to most seasons with limited KP options then lamenting the fact we don't have the options when we cop an injury or in the case of Keaths poor performance results in him being dropped.

Frampton might only be a depth player much like O'Brien but if we are going to have a real tilt at it next season then it might be what we need to do. The fact he might be able to help out in the ruck if needed has some appeal as well.

Personally I would consider keeping Schache because he is still capable of covering as a defender or forward although he might be regarded by the MC as the break glass type and have to wait for his chances.

I hope we keep Schache too. Showing some good signs this year incl. more intensity. Wish he could recreate the firm vs Alir Alir in PF last year.

Crows are apparently putting a significant financial offer in front of Rankine. He's a highly talented player but GC won't let him go easily.

He's one of those guys that can win matches in 5 minutes. No way GC let him go if they can avoid it.

Plus it seems like finally they've got some buy in from their players. If he goes that will shred it.
