Essendon used their cap space well and added McKay, Gresham and Goldy for nothing and I like the Duursma addition.
Port have moved all their chips in and went hard at addressing their needs. Soldo, Sweet, BZT and Ratugolea fix some problems.
North, Dogs and Collingwood after that.
Not sure re the Dons G.

    Goldy I can't work out.

McKay they've paid alot for an unproven guy (close to a mill a year,Naughton money).
Gresham again paid a ton not sure the Saints cared.
Lost BZT who was a regular in defence and much improved.
Duursma has had one decent season (his first).
I'm a big wait and see could be a mega fail.

I understand that logic but they've still got plenty of scope in their salary cap so from that perspective it might not be a real factor for them. I'd bet they'll hit the free agency again next season. This year trade period was about getting them more competitive and they should have achieved that.

I agree the Swans are standouts. All four will improve their team.

Port Adelaide are playing high risk getting four big guys in (mostly slow) and losing a runner. With no draft picks this year, plus Boak slowing, I'm not sure they will improve.

Essendon are, well Essendon. Internally they've won trade period as they do every year. They should improve with what they've got in. Goldy is essentially a Mumford end of career selection - a coach but use when others are all injured. Duursma was their best get for sure. If they'd offloaded a player or two more (e.g. Shiel or even traded Parish to Cats for example), then I'd be more impressed.

Our success will depend on who we get in the draft, so too early to properly assess. Shame Hollands or Duursma weren't interested in us and unclear if we were chasing them.

Collingwood is a wait and see. If wouldn't be surprised to see them drop off next year.

              Per Callum Twomey:

Melbourne and North made official offers for #1 which Eagles rejected today.

              Melbourne put forward picks 6, 11, 42 and a future first-rounder for pick 1.

North Melbourne floated picks 2 and two later first-round picks for 1 and 23.

If north offer the same but minus the 23 in return then I think Eagles will do it.

Dees offer not gonna get it done in this draft.

Gee that Melbourne offer is low balling.

Especially if the top end this year is as pointy as they say it is.

Harley Reid for a bunch of speculative picks.

North are getting closer. I'd say they'll snag it eventually.

Could push a mid back further if Eagles take Curtin with 2.

Yeah, Curtin going before our pick is a good scenario for us. Especially if the Hawks really like Watson.

                        Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023

                        North have 2, 3, 15, 17, 18, 57, 82

What combo works for you if you're WCE?

                        They have 23, 37, 58, 81 to play with.

I feel like if you offered me 2, 15 and 18 for 1 and 37 I'd do it.

                        North have 1, 3, 17, 37, 57 and 82

                        WCE have 2, 15, 18, 23, 58 and 81.

North get the best kid while still getting 2 of the top 4 as well as 17 & 37

WCE can make sure they get Curtin as well as 2 extra first rounders while still keeping that early second.

Maybe 2 and a future first considering its probably going to be top 4?
North are the ones wanting, so they will have to pay overs.

It's funny that Melbourne are not offering enough whilst simultaneously offering a hell of a lot (depending on your point of view).

They would be giving up 6, 11 (originally 14, 27, 35), 42 and a future first (likely a teens pick).

I think when you can put names to the numbers like we can now it shows the difference between 1 and 11 being pretty huge this year.
Another year that may have got it over the line.

I think North, having been given pick 3 for no reason, kinda have to leave this trade period with pick 1. They've been given the resources to get the trade done and should be willing to pay overs for JHF Who Won’t Leave.
