    Bevo's contract

    So...he's out of contract.

I'm not a fan of this situation and think that we should have him locked away until the end of 2027. He surely hit all the KPIs last season as we were almost the best team in it latter part, and he's got a proven track record doubling our GF appearances/wins.

    Why hasn't he been re-signed?

Going into a contact year isn't ideal for the coach or the club.
They could have offered an extra 12 months with a kicker for an extension if we got off to a fast start.

To me it's not an ideal situation and I'd expect the club will need to address any media speculation from the vultures.
    Interesting times ahead.

Agree. The media will be coming.

I'm not sure what the message is having this period of uncertainty?

Are they expecting he will perform better out of contract and if so that implies some existing performance issues.

Considering how we played for a large part of last season I can't get my head around the logic.

If things go pear shaped who from the club will be charged with fronting the media to explain our position and to say everything is okay?

Injuries are starting to mount and will likely now impact how we start the season. Very interesting times ahead.

Does 2023 bring back any memories?

I'm 100% behind Bevo for this season, but I struggle to see what the great rush is? He's our most successful coach in history, so as long as he wants the job in '26 and he doesn't utterly screw this year up I can't imagine there being too much of an issue re-signing him later in the year? And if he does screw this year up, then the club is better off just not renewing him than it would be re-signing him and then sacking him in October (and let's be real, Bevo has done enough for the club that he deserves better than an ignominious sacking). I know these days coaching contracts aren't worth the tissue paper they're written on, but even so...

The media is going to whinge no matter what - if we re-sign Bevo they'll just whinge about someone else at the club. Let our performance speak for itself.

I guess it might default too Ameet but we haven't yet filled the Chris Grant role and he ideally would have been the one to address it with the media.

Yeah I agree, he's gonna be out of contract at some point, and with our results in the last few years, which have been disappointing, I don't see anything wrong in waiting to see how this season plays out before making any decisions. I'm a fan of Bevo and I'd be happy if he re-signs, but we also need to get results.

Having him out of contract gives the media something to speculate over. Having him in contract allows the media to say we signed him too early if things don't get going early in the season.

In each instance it goes quiet if we start well, we have a lever to pull if it doesn't. So I am fine with him not being contracted, can't win either way so I don't worry about it.

I actually think the club should just give him an additional 12 months. We will have enough of a circus with JUH so we don’t need any further talking points. Injuries to English, JJ, Adz etc will
impact the results so back him in, take the pressure off the entire footy department and let them focus on what is important.

I honestly think if they thought he wasn’t the guy for us he would have been gone not Chris so it time to back him in.
                          BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

Agree I really don't understand the pause. Maybe it's from Bevos side.

We have a great coach let's back him. I've had my moments of doubt however the team performed amazingly last year.
