Can we please stop with the Naughton being dropped nonsense.
Yes he is struggling, but he is almost always double teamed, when the footy is incoming its kicked on his head and when he is at his best the football is moved so slowly and stagnantly he has no chance.

We have a short memory to earlier this year when he had a second tall with him, a totally different player. Even last night after HT when Lobb went forward, he was a different player.

Asking for him to be dropped is illogical and emotional.

I’ll await how our state level team goes before deciding who comes in but the following players simply can’t play next week:

          Gardner, Cleary, McNeil & Treloar.

Players who underperform should get dropped. I'm not sure what you're referring to about Lobb going forward - Naughton didn't do anything then either.

One of the problems for us playing on Thursday night and the VFL side on Saturday is when they can get the whole team together for the training.
This week we did the main session on Monday and the Captains run on Wednesday. I suspect this week the main session might be Tuesday.

JJ, Darcy, Gallagher and Coffield could be in the mix.

The one time he kept it simple instead of mirror-wanking like he did all night we got a chance to score, but he really took a step backwards.

McNeil has to go. I'll await the VFL performance to see what else can be done, but McNeil has to go.
West went back to his old self of trying to do too much and was caught every time. He needs to make quick decisions and not try and take on the whole opposition team before releasing the ball.

A cooked JJ is still our best small defender. That's where we're at.

Everything he tried turned out poorly for him and us. He's had a breakout season but that was his worst game in a long while.

Let's be honest, we got what we selected.
He is a VFL plodder, always has been, always will be.
His athletic profile is poor, he has poor skills and slow reflexes.
His selection reeked of why this team never finishes top 4, trying to outsmart ourselves.
Completely agree in needing to see the VFL this week, before committing to a 23 for next week.

In defense of West (Which you kinda of already did), he has had a super year, in a really difficult position to play. He gets a free mulligan for me.
Agree on Mcneil, should never play again unless we are down to number 28-30 on the list.

I think we should revisit the team structure we ran with in the second half of 2024 - three tall forwards and three tall backs - and use that as our template.

Our small backs are a real problem both in terms of physicality and in one-on-one competitiveness. They have cost us goals too often this year.

Naughton is struggling to cope with the double teaming he cops each week and we haven’t had Weightman to give him back-up. Buku lacks physicality. So we lack all round competitiveness up forward also. So this week:

In: Darcy, Jones(or Busslinger), JJ, Coffield
                          Out: Bramble, Cleary, McNeil, Gardner

                          That gives us:

                          JJ. Jones(or Buss). JOD
                          Dale. Lobb Freijah
                          Davidson. Libba. Williams
                          Kennedy. Naughton. VDM
                          West. Darcy. Buku

                          English. Bont. Richards

                          Int. Harmes. Treloar. Sanders. Coffield
                          Sub: Dolan

i believe this lineup to be competitive against anyone.

Hopefully the fascination on this board with Gardner is finished. Was a ridiculous list management decision to give him this length of contract and even worse to pick him last night. Showed exactly what he is. No good at afl level

                                Darcy JJ in

                                Gardner Mcneil out

Many more underperforming players on the verge of being dropped.
