Dropping him now after one match kinda says you're done mate and I dont think Bevo would do a 180 on a player like that so quickly.

If Gardner goes now it's a long way back for him. How long does he have on his contract? I wish there was a designated page for this information.
And it should be, he is not an AFL level footballer.

I'd be happy to play him on form.
He did have 25 touches against Geelong but we did have a bye the next week.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Buku was swung back and Poulter is brought in to play that forward role. 18 touches 4 goals in the vfl won’t be overlooked.

          I’ll try again

          In Darcy Poulter
          Out Gardner Harmes

Why are people hating on Gardner? I don't understand it, he's far from a superstar but I felt like he did okay and didn't lower his colours more than anyone else AND his selection was warranted because he had 4+ weeks of great VFL footy leading up to this game.

Did he play better then what a jones or Busslinger would have though? I think he’s about 6th in line in my eyes for one of those 2 or 3 key defender positions and all the other 5 were available on the weekend.

Busslinger has played one game and was fine. Jones got dropped. Would they have played better than him? Maybe. But people act like we know that Busslinger is a star just waiting for an opportunity. Right now, he's a good VFL player with 1 game of AFL experience where he went okay. Should he be played? Yes, for development sake. But nothing suggests that he's any better of a player than Gardner right now. Also, do they play the same role? No. Jones does but are we sure that Jones is better than Gardner right now? I'd defer to the coaches who are seeing them every day.

You’ve never watched Gardner play afl then?

I agree, Hynes has some good form in the 2s in the guts. Let him build on it over several weeks. No point wasting his development as sub.

He was great but unfortunately he’s not exactly going to change much for this side at the moment, we’re not exactly crying out for another midfielder. If anything he’s probably keeping pressure on Sanders role at AFL level

Are you saying that Gardner has never played better than 12 touches, 0 contested marks, 5 intercept possessions and a 6.3 rating? Because that is the only genuine evidence we have that Busslinger is better playe than Gardner at AFL level. You may project him to be a better player, as I do, but right now, there is no evidence to suggest that he is right now.

There just isn't and people need to stop pretending there is.

may aswell throw in all the VFL players and drop 15 to make a statement?

Bevo will have a good idea of who he will elevate as he was on the boundary line working the Headphones for Edge at the VFL game. Or so the commentators mentioned.

100% will be going. Don't mind Thursday night games on the couch, but hate going to them. Hopefully we can get the choclates and make it worth it.

I agree, the problem is that there is a definite limit to the deck chairs available. This kind of results in the same regular players being swapped in/out on this thread. I would be interested to see who we consider our best eleven "lock" players are, and wonder what agreement we might have on who they are.
