What a shock he won't attend the best and fairest. It's almost as if he's been completely disengaged from the club for months and months and hasn't had any true intention of engaging at all this year.

I actually do get why he mightn't want to attend, however, sitting at a table for a few hours after entering via a side door and exiting the same way also mightn't have been the most onerous task to earn almost a million dollars for the year. You might even say somebody with any ability to function as a normal person and/or show some gratitude on a mutual exit would insist on actually doing that out of respect for all of the people who have supported him since 2015. Security could keep media and fans away, and a serious person might even prioritise showing up just because it's the right thing to do.

But at the same time there's no space for reasonable conduct in the AFL, unless they're about to ping someone for tackling the exact same way they've tackled since they were ten years old. JUH would have been eaten alive if he showed up tonight and that's a shame. I have no issues with him not attending.

Not sure of Gold Coast's academy situation next year, but it would be nice to land their 3rd and 4th round pick next year if they don't plan to use them (which they usually don't when there aren't elite academy players coming through in that year). Those picks would be more valuable to us next year.

Probably wishful thinking but it would be nice if this disaster yielded us a little more than just a salary dump (which is fine in and of itself).

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a two way street and we don’t want him there either , as a club we have moved on.

I think the formula is based on wages and years offered, he'll be getting neither.

If he doesn't get traded he either gets terminated for some stupid $X00,000 payout for not doing his job, or we pay him the full whack, he spends the whole year putting himself in totally reasonable circumstances i mean how could he have known his car would be stolen/he'd nearly get shot, we get to see infinite more posts from him at the gym "hard at it" or walking out of some hot box workout or freezer room with a bunch of other smiling fit people, and then at the end of the year literally not even Gold Coast with cooker Hardwick at the helm is gonna offer him more than a 1 year deal on stuff all to resurrect the "career" he has so carefully dedicated himself to and thus won't activate any compo anyway.

Regardless if the Butters plan comes off it's hopefully as a free agent and that would negate any compo JUH could possibly offer unless someone offered him even more than whatever godfather offer we have to make Zak to convince him to be the one player to nominate us not out of desperation.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan’s bid to revitalise his AFL career has taken another significant step, touching down on the Gold Coast.

Cameras from multiple TV networks were at the airport in Coolangatta late on Tuesday night when contracted Western Bulldogs player Ugle-Hagan arrived in Queensland as he prepares for an upcoming meeting with the Suns.

“Obviously it’s the dream to play AFL football … It’s a good spot for a holiday,” Ugle-Hagan said, per 9 News chief football reporter Tom Morris.

Ugle-Hagan joked he was in town to visit Dreamworld, but declared he’d like to “definitely play football” again.

He was then asked by a perhaps out-of-the-loop reporter to comment on his season that “went pretty good, you played well and whatnot” — to which Ugle-Hagan smiled and responded: “No comment.”

Despite being contracted until the end of 2026, the 23-year-old is on the hunt for a new club after sitting out the Bulldogs’ entire 2025 campaign.

Ugle-Hagan this year took a leave of absence from the Bulldogs to deal with personal issues — including spending time at a health retreat — but was back at the club sporadically and seen training with teammates at times.

He addressed the playing group and expressed remorse for some of his actions that drew widespread criticism about his willingness to apply himself to the demands of being an AFL footballer.

It’s expected a Ugle-Hagan move north wouldn’t cost the Suns much in a trade, with the Bulldogs happy to “let him go for a late draft pick and every last dollar of his $900,000 contract off their books,” according to Morris.

Ugle-Hagan won’t be at the Bulldogs’ best and fairest event on Wednesday night, as he remains on personal leave.

I think it sounds like he has burnt his bridges with the players; otherwise, if he wants to play with us, then what is his issue? I don't think we trust him anymore, and who would?

To me, the whole Marra situation is one of the worst things that has happened to the club. We get the number one draft pick in a year we played finals and only had pick 12 (in first round) and we end up with pick one after backing this kid from age 15.

This is clearly a Dimma pet project and he will ensure it gets done come hell or high water, so we need to play to his arrogance in this negotiation. To be fair, he has runs on the board with the likes of Marlion Pickett.

There's no way it will be a one year deal only - Gold Coast would want to his $800k odd salary to be bundled into a 2 year commitment of $1m (give or take). It looks highly unlikely that Curnow is going to Gold Coast, and JUH will cost far less in terms of draft capital and salary than Curnow.

I hope we can remove his entire 2026 salary off the books and also get some future draft capital/points in 2026 that GC would otherwise not bother using, or even combine Buderick into the trade mix so that we don't have to give up more draft capital that a Buderick trade on his own would command. That is as good a result as we could possibly extract from what has been a complete and utter shitshow (none of which was our making).

Yeh surely they can take the 800k and completely rewrite the contract, just like Geelong did with Bowes. Except we won't be giving them pick 7 to go with it.
