Not really the same situation, is it?

We're on the record as saying we want Lobb to stay. Everyone in the universe knew we wanted Stringer out prior to Beveridge stating it publicly.
    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

We don't have the behavioural issues and I'm sure Bevo is happy to have depth but I'd also imagine the club would be far from upset to have his contract off the books if he's playing VFL.

We can be on record about wanting him to stay but so was Melbourne with Grundy.

That's fair enough, though with Darcy still unproven as a reliable starter outside of putting some (awesome) games together this year I'd think the club would genuinely want someone of Lobb's quality around.

I'm sure 17 other clubs would think the same. Just a case of what money is available. If English stays we probably don't to use our cap on that luxury unless Macrae and Daniel depart. Lots of spinning wheels there though

Lobb is a good guy from what I've seen at training. Energetic and mixes well with the other players.
Of course he wants to play senior football and his manager should be testing the market. The way things some things get reported is poor and we shouldn't take the bait and hang the player so quickly.
Some of us were discussing this at the training session about half of them had lined Lobb up so I hope the latest updates calms the farm.

I especially enjoyed the subtle drive-by he game Morris. I like that he remains combative against the Ch 9 media mafia, but is just doing it in smarter and more devious ways. I don't want ass-kissing cuddly Bevo - I want him laser focused on his players and match day prep without giving a stuff about appeasing one small segment of the AFEL media wasteland.

The way to smarten up a few of the Ch9 group is to make himself available to other TV channels and radio hosts.
The club should be more active in this area and have a regular gig on RSN or on Dwayne's show on SEN.

Would it be fair to say that Lobb is sacrificised on the alter of other underperforming rivals who show "potential" ?

Enough. It didn’t work. Don’t care on the trade. This bloke seriously thinks he should be playing AFEL when this is him making a point about why he should be playing.

                    Go.

It hit me tonight. The inability to have an impact on a contest.

I know I'm repeating my line from the Three things thread, but he approacheds every contest as though he is going to have no contact from a defender. When said contact comes, he's immediately off balance and throws his hands up at the last second in a doomed attempt to make contact with the ball.

He's gifted athletically and physically and has shown ability in the past but his staggering lack of application has killed his football career. If it doesn't come easy to him it doesn't come at all. More performances like tonight and no club will touch him at trade time.

Yep. Unless he’s on the lead and mark in front, he’s pretty much useless. Obviously he will need to play with Darcy out suspended, but Khamis would seriously offer more. As you say, he might not have any decent offer if he can’t impact games. Then he’s our back up ruckman.

I'd say he needs to play on Zaine every week but he didn't do much against the Saints and was matched against Zaine for chunks of that game too.

What we need from him is the conviction in the contest that he showed against Moore in the last. Stabilised, initiated body contact, and got arms wrapped around him for a free kick and goal.

I give him leniency as coming back up to the level isn't easy, especially after being all over the media as out the door already because he's being superseded by a third year player (who's a clear freak of nature). But he contributed when we needed him to and had two posters that could have gone the other way and really gotten his night going.
