It doesn't get any more Scott Clayton than a flyer on a lightly framed outside player in the first round.
It was Charlie Ballard who ironically Cal Twomey see's as an outside chance for our pick 16.

This is the quote I was referring to
"19. GOLD COAST SUNS: WILL POWELL (Claremont)

      185cm midfielder

This would be a huge shock given most rate the lightly-framed outside midfielder a very late pick. But some suggestions Powell could fall in this range.

THE TWIST: Tricky draft for Scott Clayton, and probably his last at the Suns, entering at No.19 after trading pick two for Lachie Weller."

Thanks, I must have read something else that made a similar comment about Ballard at pick 19.

The whole meeja of the are probably scouring the height/weight ratios of prospective draftees trying to find a Clayton smokey no one else has spotted ATM. It must be so hard to find story ideas now that trade period is over and they can't lift them holus bolus from WOOF they have just taken to stealing them from each other.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Pick 29 – Greater Western Sydney – Jack Petruccelle
            Pick 30 – Melbourne – Matt Ling
After years of dodgy trade/drafting, Richmond have really landed on their feet to have (effectively) 4 picks in the top 30 as reigning premiers. If this draft is anywhere near accurate and they add Murphy, Brander, Hayes and Naish to a premiership list, they'd have to be pretty thrilled.

                Re: WOOF Phantom Drafts

Looking at the various phantoms, it seems most have Higgins and L.Fogerty as going 10 to 15 (Brisbane seem very hot on Fogerty at 15). Depending on who's available, I reckon a good strategy would be for us to grab one of these (whoever Dal rates higher) at 9 and look at best available at 16 (whoever of the explosive athletes have slid - any of Stephenson, Bonar, Coffield, Clark, Richards, O'Brien, Murphy, even a Ballard or Bailey). Would constitute an ideal first round combo for our needs.

                  Re: WOOF Phantom Drafts

Most of the recent phantoms had Stephenson falling outside of the top 10, however talk now is that Collingwood and StKilda have sought further medical opinion and one or the other will probably punt on him. Probably means that 2 of D.Fogarty/Coffield/Clark/Naughton will be available to us. Gonna be a fascinating night.

Fogarty - could be Stringer but with a tank and a working zipper.

His various highlights don't have him sneaking out the back for cheapies instead of leading at the ball carrier too.

Naughton and Richards are our picks in this Phantom Draft on RoCo's website. I like the rationale for the different player selections in this write-up as well as the dissection of player weaknesses - other phantoms tend to have 70+ future Dangerfield's with no weaknesses.

Clayton's ability to find skinny kids with athletic traits is uncanny. After his effort on Friday night he's leaving the Suns the way he arrived, with a few more skinny kids to develop.
