    Re: 2018 Draft Watch

Sparrow had 25 touches, 5 tackles and a goal as South went down narrowly in the sanfl u18's.

Hately had 20 and a goal at reserves level, with McLennan 15, Nietschke 15 and a goal, for Central who lost to Norwood.

Rozee and Lukosius are about to kick off in the prelim. Stream available via 7Plus I believe for anyone interested in watching.

Jack Hayes for the Eagles is a mature age key forward and having a huge game. Could be playing himself onto a list.

Amazing game in the SANFL. North have come back from 47 points down to now be 4 goals up.

Boyd Woodcock has had another good game up front.

Yes it was, huge last quarter and in the end won by just 5 points

I think there is a lot of value in this draft to about the end of the 2nd round. I wonder how we will try and position ourselves or if we will be happy enough to acquire Wingard/Rozee or Hately at pick 7 and then the main players to follow would be West and Khamis?

Do we need a bit more than that?

I'm probably wrong, but Rozee isn't a hit out the park for me yet (and may be unavailable at our selection anyway). Its tough to know which way we should go with our first pick but if we can add an experienced player with demonstrated A grade ability, that's what we should do.

If we can find a way back into the second round accounting for the need to bid on West it would be a great outcome. Not sure how we do it though...maybe Gold Coast have some interest in a trade as they have a lot of early picks and 2 second round selections.

Although I'd be reluctant to do it, Adelaide also have some currency and might be willing to part with picks 15 and 19 to land consecutive picks in the top 10 although we would likely have to sweeten the offer just a bit.

I guess for us it all depends on Wingard

                  15 & 19 for our pick 6 & a sweetener?

                  Why would we do that?

Pick 6 to Port has the additional value of getting the best SA talent too, a kid who is more likely to stay in SA. And if I were Port I'd us to get stuffed with picks 15 & 19 for Wingard. Plus we've blown a sweetener too to get 15 & 19. I'm sure there's more to this trade hypothetical than meets the eye from G.

The only reason would be have some selections before the depth of the draft thins out a bit.
It could also address the likely points required for West

                      Pick 6 is 1751 points while picks 15 and 19 = 2060 points

We couldn't consider a move like that until we know what we are getting for Dahlhaus and maybe Roughead

I was just reading that North had 19 players on the field in the last quarter

Same thing happened in the NEAFL grand final.

I expect it's more likely than not. Bevo and Power said we're in the market for mature talent, we've been linked to Wingard in the press (Stevo gets good Bulldogs mail) and we're still weeks away from trade week so we're clearly working the phones.

I used to think this about Stevo, but last couple of seasons he has been well off the mark with his reports.
