That's smacks of playing around that their members will be lamenting down the track. If you have pick four and rate the fourth best kid (or better) and he's still there, take him. Melbourne are, or should be, still crying over trading the picks for Josh Kelly & Rory Lobb (give or take) for their former Tyson & Salem. Someone is going to be an example of how not to get too 'creative' with live trading, I guess they're as any so long as it's not us.
If they have no concerns about his knee then he is a bargain at pick 4. I'm not sure if they are just trying to test the market to see if linking their name to Rozee might entice someone like Port into offering say pick 5 and 15 for pick 4 and 36 (and perhaps a 3rd team to balance this) but they should just keep this pick.

      3) They are attempting to bluff the Suns to select Rozee ahead of Rankine

      4) They believe they can get the player they really want in Bailey Smith at pick 6 so pick 24 is a nice added bonus.

If option 4 is correct you would imagine that the draft order would be something like:
      1 - Walsh - Carlton
      2 - Lukosius - Suns
      3 - Rankine - Suns
      4 - Rozee - Suns
      5 - M.King - Port
      6 - Smith - St Kilda

Leaving us to choose from B.King, Caldwell and Clark

Would you make that deal if you were the Saints?

No because from the small amount of vision I have seen I rate the top 4 on that list as significantly better than the players at 5 and 6. I think if the saints give up their pick 4 then they will really regret losing the player that's taken with that pick. I know they still get pick 6 back and will get a fairly good player but those picks 1-4 can really play.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

        Re: 2018 Draft Watch

Anyone getting excited about getting the likes if Smith, B.King or Caldwell to the club along with West?

It looks like Smith has warned off the interstate clubs so it might come down to either the Saints or us.
King seems to have Port interested in him but if he gets past that he could be available for that pick
Caldwell seems to have the interstate clubs considering him but as it stands I think if the GC don't select him at pick 6 or maybe the Saints at pick 4 he would be a another option for us.

Out of the 3 who interests you the most and in what order?

I was watching Smith footage last night and I’d be ecstatic to get him at 7, but whatever way it drops we’re on a great spot

Has anyone seen/heard much about ATU BOSENAVULAGI? I've been looking into some smaller forwards that have some speed/tricks but at the same time show aggression and can tackle. Once again another academy player like Bedford but he has a rugby background so I'm guessing he is a late comer to the game so you would expect him to keep improving. Sounds like he would be a reach at 32 if we have that selection but it would be nice to add a player like him to our list.

Fox sports have compiled a list of the clubs that the potential draftees follow.
James Blanck, Zak Butters, Ned McHenry, Xavier O’Halloran, and Rhylee West are all dogs supporters.

O’Halloran is one that might be an around the mark at our 32. Touted as one of the best leaders in the draft.

A story came out about McHenry this morning too (link below). Apparently loves the odd 30km run.

O'Halloran or McHenry would be great selections at pick 32 if they were still available. I don't think O'Halloran will get past Gold Coasts pick 24 but we should be very interested if he was still available. McHenry is a feisty small forward and is smart around the goals

I know Butters is highly rated and likely to go in the teens, but do you know anything about Blanck Gvgr? I’ve never heard of him.

Butters will go in the first round so I think he is out of the question for us. Blanck is a tall and quick defender who tested well at the combine and is a neat kick. Lacks some strength but has significant upside. His sprints and agility testing were excellent at the combine. Might be a bit like Lewis Young. At 195cm he would be a good developing tall for us.

If Blanck is available late, he could be a good selection for us. Fits a need and projects as a player with good stopping ability.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Is anyone else having trouble with the AFL draft machine? The page loads for me but the players don't populate (even when selecting all or searching individuals by name).

I am on a Mac but have enabled flash etc. Also doesn't work on my iphone.

Kevin Sheehan has put out a list of his top 40, which is not ranked, just 40 alphabetical names. Buku Khamis appears in his top 40 list.

                          ESPN have him going 40-60.

                              From the AFEL:

                              Western Bulldogs
                              Draft selections: 7, 27, 32, 45, 63, 75, 82

Backs: While the Dogs have lost key defender Marcus Adams, impressive youngster Lewis Young should be ready to go, and premiership stopper Fletcher Roberts is in reserve. Another running defender with deft kicking skills wouldn't go astray.

Midfield: While the Dogs have a strong midfield, they don't have an overabundance of class and elite kicks. The Dogs will be hoping first-year sensation Ed Richards will help this problem, but adding another skilled ball-winner will complement a strong array of inside midfielders.

Forwards: With Tom Boyd expected to play predominantly forward in 2019 alongside fellow big man Josh Schache, a pressure forward to replace the departed Luke Dahlhaus would be handy. Former Tiger Sam Lloyd could be that man, as could likely father-son recruit Rhylee West.

Rucks: With Jordan Roughead and Tom Campbell both sent packing, the Dogs will need to bring in someone to help third-year ruckman Tim English. With Jackson Trengove for back up, a mobile state league prospect or a developing youngster should be on the cards.

The priority: Class, class, class. While they made inspired choice with the sublimely-talented Richards in last year's first round, a player of similar ilk is just what the Dogs need to help with their push back up the ladder. - Ryan Davidson

Dream draft according to Cal Twomey: The Dogs are in a good position to get what they need with their first pick. Bailey Smith is a strong chance to be available and offers plenty as a ready-to-go midfielder. Connor Rozee could also be on the board and is a terrific user of the ball. Combining one of them, plus dogged father-son Rhylee West, would make for a good draft for the club.

I’d be very happy with Smith or Caldwell. Caldwell looks a star but I just hope he doesn’t become the next Nathan Freeman. Sounds like if the saints don’t take Smith with 4, he will get to us
