With the density rules you could argue there is no such thing as a ready made KPP at u18 level.

Tom Boyd kicked 5 goals in a quarter at u18 level and absolutely dominated and was also touted as 'ready to go'. One of those opponents that quarter... Alirr Aliir.

I'll post more details in a few days
Interested what range you'd have Rozee, etc going in? I'm hopeful but if our second live pick is 60+, I'm not sure we will get a look in. A lot to play out obviously.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Some mocks have him outside the top 10 but I don't see it. I think his skill set is the type that will go early. Perhaps clubs take Taylor first as he has more midfield scope and did perform a little better at the champs.

He could easily do a Tim Taranto and be someone who was rated outside of the top 10 until a couple of weeks before the draft.
Perhaps how he performs at the draft camp might help determine his positon.

Yep, there is almost always a bolter who comes from the clouds. Bonti fits the bill, and Clayton Oliver missed the champs entirely and bolted late.

Heck, Toby McLean missed the Stingrays squad entirely and only just scraped onto the Chargers list at the start of his u18 year. Came from the clouds to finish second in the Morrish Medal.

...Yep. Not everyone develops at the same rate and not everyone plays their best footy at 18.

Morris and Picken two perfect examples.

I think clubs look at whether they have more improvement, if your a star in under 18s but they can't see you Improving you won't get picked up.
Large talls are a problem they are bigger and better at 18 but once the others catch up they are brought down pretty quickly.
Personally I would like to see the under 18s rules the same as AFL rules, as it is the rules tend to hide a few inefficiencies in players and once they come into the senior Comp they aren't up to it.

Are you suggesting that there are others being overlooked BECAUSE of the rules on anti-density/tagging? Or just that the rules are allowing some to shine more brightly than they otherwise would?

I think the 18's is a talent play and putting players in as many contests as possible against their peers is the best way to judge it...allowing tags and flooding isn't really going to help...

So you the think the under 18s should play under different rules to what they are going to be chosen for ?
I think it should be the same rules as some players aren't up to the senior rules . Also as I said kids can look great in under 18s but have reached their peak, recruiters tend to look at have they got more improvement in them.
Their is also a lot of examples of big kids being caught up at adult level , they just grew quicker and the rest caught up.
Example being in primary school we had a kid who was tall and a ruck, by the time he was in senior football he was a rover.
English and the Bont were chosen due to the improvement they showed in their last year. I believe it's all about that nowadays, they haven't reached their peak, some kids have at 18 and will be run over the top.

I'm really impressed by the standard and organisation of the elite U18's competitions and I like the fact that they have modified rules.
Good players are given a chance to display their skills etc and I think it serves them well when they join clubs.

I'd keep the rules they have in place.

                          So would I.

The rules make it difficult/impossible for coaches to do much apart from put a single extra player behind the ball/contest. It makes it more of a players game than a coaches/tactical game.

He's an exciting prospect who may not ever be a high possession winner but is someone who can impact games.

To get into the mix of some of the better players this year we have to be very professional and brave with our list management and obviously be prepared to let some good players go. It will be interesting to see if we have that in us.

Normally we don’t have that in us. And it is a must this year for mine. We need to mark some hard decisions, but I don’t think we will.

We average around 6 to 7 changes every year. How many do you want out this year?
