It really depends on who we select at pick 7 doesn't it?

If we get Bailey Smith and Rhylee West we have two great contested ball winners who also happen to be good in the forward line as well. That probably leaves us pick 32 moving to 35 to address our lack of height and players like Koschitzke, Williams, Gown and maybe Munn might be in the mix. Khamis and then a pack of good midfielders from the likes of O'Neill, Sparrow, Answerth and many others

If it's Ben King and then West it's a full on focus with midfielders and Xavier O'Halloran, Ely Smith, Boyd Woodcock and Xavier O'Neill and are in the mix and then hope we can land a tall like Koschitzke, Williams or Gown and then Khamis.

Plenty to play out here BT.

Something like (effectively pick circa) to balance tall, small, defender and forward:?

      Option A: 7. King, 27. West, 32. McHenry, 45. Khamis, 63. Best Available

      Option B: 7. Smith, 27. West, 32. Williams, 45. Khamis, 63. Best Avilable

Noah Gown played junior footy at my club. Was a gun but gave it away a few years ago to concentrate on basketball. Only returned to footy this year to play for Gippsland Power and now is a really chance to be drafted.

Well.............I disagree totally with his assessment of our needs, aside from a small forward, we could do with a quality one of those.

We need outside mids with genuine pace and foot skills. Not contested ball winning mids.

And we already have a plethora of rebounding defenders coming out of our %$#holes. Wood, Suckling, Richards, Williams, Johanissen, Crozier........even Lynch.

Not saying we shouldn't take Khamis, but how does he do his list analysis this chap?

          List needs

          1. Contested ball-winning midfielders

          2. Small forward

          3. Rebounding defender

          Draft picks: 7, 27, 32, 45, 63, 75, 82

Who should they draft? Rhylee West as a father-son and Buku Khamis as an NGA prospect are strong fits as a ball-winning midfielder and a rebounding defender respectively. Bailey Smith at 7 is ideal, also as a ball-winning midfielder, and arguably the best of his type in the draft. In the second round, Ed McHenry applies great pressure as a small forward, and appears an ideal fit.

I agree we don't need rebounding defenders as we have plenty of depth. I think contested ball winners is a real need though and of course outside run and some key position depth.

On top of all that there is some strong speculation that we are right into Jordan Clark who seems to be more at home as a rebounding defender.

Don’t think it’s possible to agree with you more. Outside class with elite disposal by foot and some creative goal scoring small forward is top of my wish list.

He played some good football this year and could be a real chance to be selected although he didn't score an invite to the combine.

I expect Smith to be off the board. A gun tall with our first pick probably suits us more long term, less short term.

I do worry about the brother curse though.

I know it hasn't really hurt his ranking but I'd be worried picking anyone coming off a knee.

The likelihood if doing it again is enough to make me question using a top pick on a player when you've got some really strong alternatives.

Hopefully whoever takes him gets a good player, but I'd be hesitant using a top 5 pick on anyone with an ACL in their history.

Does it make any difference that they’re twins?

In that case I hope we get the evil one.

Max's was impact rather than twisting, but there was other ligament damage too which makes me wary.

I think you have summed this up well. Smith should be gone before our selection although there is also a slight chance that Ben King is gone as well.
In the short term we need the best mids but longer term the focus should be on a key position player

I heard Craig Cameron mention today that the Suns would entertain the thought of trading one of their picks but he did say they wanted to maintain picks in the top 8.
If Smith is our preferred target I think we need the Suns to be having two less picks in front us and having Adelaide and/or Port incentivised to be taking the local boys.

Other than that though there appears to be 5 boys in the mix for us, Smith, B.King, Rozee, Clark and Caldwell.

I don't think it's a huge consideration for clubs but it's probably the reason why he isn't being talked more about a top 3 pick.
The Saints have had a good look at him. They'll have a better idea than most if it could be an issue for him.
