I think if we going to persist with Naughton playing forward it would make sense. He looked good today.

RW is a smaller defender. He's be in competition for spots with Duryea JJ, Daniel, Williams, Suckling, Vandermeer, Crozier and maybe, Richards, Lynch. R.Smith, Lachlan Young and Dale

Do you think that he could he take Morris's spot on the list? I know there will only ever be one Dale Morris and all that but we are going to need to replace him at some stage.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Is he really? He looks tall. He must have a good vertical leap.

Rueben William is listed as 182cm on the Brisbane website and 189cm on Wiki - either way he would be yet another mid sized defender on our list.

I can't see RW is some one we need at the moment.

I would prefer to try and inject some genuine pace.

I think he is closer to 182cm tall

Keep losing and we can beat Carlton to the punch! Seems like a type we are lacking.

Coburg small forward Sam Lowson could be taken by Carlton in the AFL mid-season draft

Coburg small forward Sam Lowson has emerged as a mid-season draft bolter after a strong start to the VFL season.
The 23-year-old carpenter from Melbourne’s east slotted four goals in a big loss to Box Hill on the weekend, taking his 2019 tally to 13 goals from four games.

The Herald Sun has reported that Carlton will meet with him next week to put him through a medical screening, while North Melbourne has also shown interest.

Lowson has played 23 VFL games in the past three years since being recruited from East Ringwood in the Eastern Football League.

“He could be the first player picked,” Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph told AFL Tonight on Monday.

“He has a dready-manbun if there is such a thing. He could be at Carlton on May 28.”

“He is a great story of being persistent with his dream,” Coburg general manager Sebastian Spagnuolo told the Herald Sun.

“He is explosive, very powerful for his size, has elite pressure, creates his own goals and opportunities by tackling and is also very unselfish.

“He is a 23-year-old chippy who is on the tools every day and then comes to training.”

Clubs will select players in reverse ladder order after Round 10 on the night of May 27.

At this stage, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Sydney and Carlton have the first four picks in the mid-season draft, which has been reintroduced this year after the AFL also introduced a supplemental selection period over the summer which paved the way for players like Sydney Stack and Michael Gibbons to get a chance.

                        VFL players eye mid-season draft

Williamstown coach Andy Collins believes clubs will look strongly at ex-AFL players Mitch Hibberd and Ben Kennedy in this year’s mid-season draft.

Collins championed the recruitment of Michael Gibbons over the summer and also had AFL clubs secure Brett Bewley and Ben Cavarra after successful 2018 campaigns for the Seagulls.

This year ex-North Melbourne defender Hibberd is dominating as a roving half forward and played his best game on the weekend, a 134-ranking point, 24 disposal game.

Kennedy played 40 games for Collingwood and Melbourne but this year in a new role as a small forward is averaging 22 possessions in a starring role.

Williamstown’s wildcard is indigenous forward Jaylon Thorpe, the son of former Sydney and Footscray player Alan Thorpe.

The 190cm excitement machine already has a long VFL highlights reel after being plucked from local football two years ago.

AFL recruiters believe only a handful of players will be selected, with few players of the calibre of former WAFL star Tim Kelly to pluck and turn into long-term players.

But Collins believes the May 27 mid-season draft is a perfect opportunity to secure elite talent ahead of the end-of-year draft and rookie periods.

“We have been playing Mitch as a mid forward and he’s just an endurance running beast. We wanted to use him as an attacking running player and if he does get picked up again an AFL player will have a really good player.

“Ben has been playing as a small forward and although he isn’t kicking a lot of goals on the weekend he was just sensational.

“Jaylon Thorpe is only in his second year of VFL footy and is a kid that never really went through the indigenous pathways. He was recommended through indigenous carnivals and he is a really exciting kid who could have got drafted last year and has already drawn a lot of attention.”

Hibberd played only two games at North Melbourne but as a 22-year-old with elite fitness is the kind of player who could quickly acclimatise to the rigours of AFL again.

Players have until Friday to nominate for the mid-season draft on the day after Round 10, and will be picked in reverse ladder order with Melbourne currently having the first selection.

We could do a lot worse than Hibberd. He would get a game with us.

I hope we take 2 players

Listed at 189cm so more medium defender the way we play - Buku's height.

I expect we look at forwards though. Thorpe's kid at Willy a smoky? He's kicked something like 9 goals 15 at VFL level so he'd fit right in.

If he's kicked 9.22 then he'd fit right in. We wouldn't have to do any work at all in ****ing up his goalkicking. That would save us a lot of trouble.

Refer to my post above - 189cm is Wiki - incredibly unreliable. Brisbane listed him as 182cm, slightly more believable.
