Great method to forever threathen to finish 9th.

Like some posters mentioned, I do worry for Ratten's health.

They have really botched their recruitment on some early picks, and delisting of players.

Hickey in career best , playing on one good knee.
Parker picked up by Richmond. We know how good their mid year recruits go!
Hind is having a good season at half back instead of as a forward.

I remember their were rumours that he was devastated because he was a big dogs fan and wanted to get to us. Does anyone know if he was on the cards for us?

The mail we were picking Naughton was really strong. Don't know what we would've done if he was gone.

Any wild speculation around who we might be considering?

IIRC we had Ed Richards just behind him and if we took Richards with our first pick, Lachie Fogerty was on our radar for pick 16 (Jets kid, huge tackle numbers at u18 level).

It sounds like on a points basis we're going to get wiped out from this draft.
Sam Darcy alone will be tough to cover, and we have no 2nd or 3rd round pick this year.
Then there's Raak and McPherson who may or may not attract points bids if we take them, and another NGA kid we're watching.

OK, let's talk about Darcy junior. I know **** all about him.

Is he a ruckman, a CHB or a CHF?

And is he really a top 5 or top 10 draft talent? If so, why?

He sees himself ultimately as a forward/ruck. Watch the man himself here...

Who knows, there’s plenty of time. But this is the commentary this year:

                            - Who is Sam Darcy?
                            - Father/son Sam Darcy.
                            - Bolter for First Round, Sam Darcy.
                            - Possible Top 10 Pick Sam Darcy.
                            - Possible Top 5 Pick Sam Darcy.
                            - Arguable the best KPP in the draft, Sam Darcy.
                            - Possible Pick 2 Sam Darcy.

Draft watchers in Cal Twomey & Shifter Sheehan pushing him really hard. Media figures also pumping include Healy & Ralph. But to the question, the more he plays the more he is impressing everyone.

And the commentary on the fairness of father-son picks went something like this:

                              - Who is Sam Darcy? N/A
                              - Father/son Sam Darcy. Keep the father-son the way it is. Love the romance of it.
                              - Bolter for First Round, Sam Darcy. Hmmm.....keep the father-son the way it is. Love the romance of it.
                              - Possible Top 10 Pick Sam Darcy. Father-son rule should be stricter with less discounts.
                              - Possible Top 5 Pick Sam Darcy. Get rid of father-son rule
                              - Arguable the best KPP in the draft, Sam Darcy. Get rid of father-son rule
                              - Possible Pick 2 Sam Darcy. Get rid of father-son rule

All while a Daicos is touted as the no 1 pick.

Hopefully with Darcy we go the tall utility route. He might see himself as more of a ruck/forward but if he's a competent tall that can play at either end and then rotate through the ruck then that'd be the best use of him.
