It's a tough call to nominate for the MSD - the contracts are only 6 months. Even the rookie draft gives you 12 months and that includes a full pre-season to work on your game.
Didn't someone last year play at AFL level and get delisted after 6 months?

If I were a young player, such as an overlooked player like Raak, I’d back myself to get to the ND. 2 years and I think if drafted in the first three rounds, a good chunk more cash than a rookie. The MSD hasn’t been brilliant at 19yo staying on lists.

When you nominate you can set one of your conditions as 6 or 18 months (so through to the end of 2022).

            Whatchagonnado?

If a club wants to give you a look for half-a-season - like, NOW, fur-real!! - then you nominate.

Hoping that you get picked up at the ND? Yeah...I don't think so. The landscape is scattered with players who had been 'TOLD' they would be picked up "If you're still there at pick 42"...then weren't.

If someone is going to pick you, nominate, get on the list and let the chips fall where they may. If you end up like Josh Deluca and get delisted, well, so be it - at least he played AFL footy and had a chance. His older brother Chris was overlooked in multiple drafts despite kicking heaps of goals in premiership winning teams at Subiaco...at least Deluca Jr got a 'chance'. Was it a good chance or a fair chance? Did he get two years on a 'list' working on his game? Well, no...but it was something.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Watching the SA v WA state game, Stengle is a dead set jet. Shame he is a bit of a DH off field, would suit us nicely.

Some talk of Richmond picking him up again

Damn. I expect Raak to go.
JGM is an interesting one - has played ruck but a bit undersized for ruck at AFL level.

I'd hate to lose either of William or JGM from the Footscray squad. Good contributors who help maintain the standard.

Good luck to the kid. Hopefully he doesn’t make us look silly for passing on him.

I wonder if Dodoro is going to fire the first shot and draft Kyle Dunkley on a 6 month contract. Very little risk for them, but if they think this is the trigger to get Josh to call fora trade again, they should do it.

He's a key back but has had to play ruck in the absence of anyone else when Sweet has been called up.
