Macrae has been used as one this year at times .
Treloar and Smith tend to swap inside outside .
I’m just thinking libba hasn’t got long and if we get an inside mid now he will be ready to go when libba goes.
I’m picturing a Matt Rowell type.

      Looking at the live ladder

      Dogs natural picks 14 & 16 (Bris)
      GWS natural picks 6 (Rich) & 12

      GCS Pick 5

If this sticks fat, we would have to be odds on for the GCS trade. GWS would be the biggest threat but a one pick upgrade to burn pick 12 doesn’t stack up.

GCS more likely wanting to trade

Per last page. Looking at who could out bid us, for us to get Pick 5 from GCS. The biggest threat is GWS, but right now, that looks highly unlikely. I’d say we are in prime position to move up to Pick 5 (6 after McKay compo, 7 after the Walter bid).

Hope Duursma slips to 7. Croft at 13-15. That’s a great first night of the draft.

            Re: Rolling Draft Order 2023

            Round 21:

            Ours:

            Pick 13 (Dogs)
            Pick 16 (Bris)
            Pick 35 (Bris)
            Pick 66 (Geel)
            Pick 69 (Dogs)
            Pick 73 (Melb)

(Pushed out by R2 & R3 North charity picks now with Freo - now factored into the order)

Enough Draft Points in last four picks (without draft point trading Pick 35) to secure Jordan Croft as a F/S as high as Pick 18 with no deficit (inc. of discount) if required - as he may be late first round/early second rounder (current power ranking consensus range is Pick 13-19):

So then then our draft hand is maybe 11, 16 & 18 (Croft) and end of draft pick/s and rookie elevation/s - Or trade with GCS For their Pick 6 - Then Pick 6 & Croft.

            Giving:

Pick 32 (on top of 2022 Pick 30) for Rory Lobb, =Pick 13 in DPs
            Pick 50 & 55 (Hunter pick) on-traded for upgrade to Pick 35
= Hunter for a future 15 pick upgrade in the mid/late draft order

(^^ However it?s the same amount of Draft Points, so it?s not really an upgrade unless traded for a player. So if Pick 35 is used for DPs then the Hunter pick upgrade is wiped out and his value is only the Melbourne Pick at the end of the third round)

Free Agency Compo Tiers (at natural selection):

            First: Pick 14
            Second: Pick 32
Third: Pick 50 (Likely/realistically best case on Bailey Williams as a theoretical RFA)

              Re: Rolling Draft Order 2023

              Late picks:

With it highly possible Geelong and play finals, and Melbourne go deep with a possible home QF. The points in the late picks are shrinking especially with the two North charity picks pushing them out and say maybe three more FA compo picks. That could mean that Melbourne’s fourth has no points at all. And ours and Geelongs have very little.

First we need to sell Pick 35 to the highest bidder.

Then if we are trading firsts to GCS for Pick 6. We need to grab points if then they don’t need/won’t use owing to list spot rules at the draft and matching bids. Hopefully they offer some back, but we may need to buy some with a F3.

That will leave us top heavy - Pick 6 and Croft (13-19) - so maybe we look at some live trading to get some more talent. If the club still thinks it’s in the window, a free agent would/could help bring in more talent too. But we are limited with trading picks this year for players. We might have to even use a few future picks if we want to bring in a player worth a second rounder.

None of our tied picks have slipped this year, unlike Freo & Richmond.

So then then our draft hand is maybe 11, 16 & 18 (Croft) and end of draft pick/s and rookie elevation/s - Or trade with GCS For their natural Pick 4 - Then Pick 4 & Croft.

                Giving:

Pick 30 (on top of 2022 Pick 30) for Rory Lobb, =Pick 13 in DPs

                  Trade Smith for Cats 1st:

Look at someone like Macrae for something that gets Lohmann

Pick 4, 8 & 13-19 Croft plus Lohmann (Pick 20 two years ago)

So four and eight are ours and 13 and 19 go towards Croft?

                      Our first go to GCS.

4, 8 & Croft taken in the range of 13-19. Using later picks/points to pay the bill.

Three first rounders, two of them top 10.

                              Lose to Geelong.

We have pick 8, so safe from Croft.

Geelong maybe offer Pick 10 for Smith (maybe 12/13 after bids).

WCE don’t have pick one to sell. If they want to talk about English with Pick 2 I’m listening too.

Just now need to work out what to do with the Bris 1st.

Dropping to 11th will greatly increase draft points if we want to try to get the GCS Pick 4.

Time to do the rebuild I’ve been banging on about in vein.

                                Pick 71 (Melb)

(Pushed out by R2 & R3 North charity picks now with Freo)

Enough Draft Points in last four picks (without draft point trading Pick 36) to secure Jordan Croft as a F/S as high as Pick 17 with no deficit (inc. of discount) if required - as he may be late first round/early second rounder (current power ranking consensus range is Pick 11-17):

So then then our draft hand is maybe 10, 17 & 18 (Croft matched next pick) and end of draft pick/s and rookie elevation/s - Or trade with GCS For their natural Pick 4 - Then Pick 4 & Croft.

                                Giving:

Pick 29 (on top of 2022 Pick 30) for Rory Lobb, =Pick 13 in DPs
                                Pick 48 & 54 (Hunter pick) on-traded for upgrade to Pick 36
= Hunter for a future 12 pick upgrade in the mid/late draft order

(^^ However it is the same amount of Draft Points, so it?s not really an upgrade unless traded for a player. So if Pick 35 is used for DPs then the Hunter pick upgrade is wiped out and his value is only the Melbourne Pick at the end of the third round)

Free Agency Compo Tiers (at natural selection):

                                First: Pick 11
                                Second: Pick 30
Third: Pick 49 (Likely/realistically best case on Williams or McLean as a RFA)
