I see Jay Clark confirm Weightman is done for the season. Sam Toner who I was keen on last draft is still kicking goals I see. Sounds like the type of player that we could use.

I agree with Aza, are there any players on your radar that fit his criteria?

A Jones - do we persist and hope he has a break out game or is his time up?
Gardiner - how many are ahead of him now? The defence seems settled and he can't get a game in a depleted defence?
L Jones - is father time catching up?
Dureya - as per above, has father time caught up?
Poulter - struggling to crack a game. Too many people ahead of him
Baker - looked good off half back when fit, but again too many people ahead of him.
Garcia - inked a 3 year deal as the likely successor to LIbba, but got injured at the wrong time. With the midfield stacked does he get a look in?
Gallagher - does he have what it takes to refine his game?
Coffield - how does he break into the backline? H0w does he keep his body fit?

I can at least 3 of the above will be on the block, but we may prune a little more deeply.
Gardner, Garcia and Gallagher are all contracted for next year. I would be shocked if we paid them out just for a spot.

I'm sticking with my views from a few weeks ago:
Re-sign: Ed, Bont, Cleary (bolter!), VDM, Lachie Smith
I think they're done but could surprise in second half of season: Arty Jones, Coffield
Old - one year deal at best: Treloar, Libba, JJ, Liam Jones
I've seen enough: Poulter, Scott, Duryea
Possible hold for experienced depth: Baker

It's a pity Luca Muratore is injured at the moment as he looks a lively small forward that could have taken Cody Weightman's spot. But very small sample size to go on.

However feel we will go for key position coverage. Maybe Tomlinson is the go as a break glass at either end.

Personally think Gardner has looked pretty solid at vfl level this year. So I’d be looking best available
Does CCP hit the scoreboard? I think that should be our big criteria when chasing a small forward. McNeil, VDM, Dolan have speed and tackle, but don’t have regular two to four goal games.

CCP is close to an AFL standard player but I feel he doesn't have any hurt factor to his game. To me Brew was a better option but we passed on him.
With Sanders and Freijah doing well we aren't really lacking midfield depth.
Who knows if we just go from best available or target someone that might be able to help us this season.

That might be from a supporters perspective but if the recruiting team didn't land D'Ambrosio he would have been offered another deal.

We were right about Harmes last year, where his body didn't hold up...but he has got fit and is an important part of the squad this year.
