I see Buku's value as being around pick 35, somewhere between 30-40.

25yo - prime of his career.
Contracted - this is the key part that kicks up his value from pick 50 to a second rounder.
31/47 games in the past two years - that's not quite best 23, but shows he is right in the mix.
    Has played forward, back, ruck.

I think we will want to respect his wishes and move him on, but won't do it if the deal is crap.

Keep him. He's good depth and while it's nice to be helping him make a bag and our opponents, the onus on our club is to do what's best for us. He's contracted after all and he'll play games. If we don't get a good offer, he stays.

    We ain't a charity.

I wonder if Carlton have had a change of mind and are low balling to make us give him up for peanuts or say we keep him.
If they lose Curnow Buku can fill a forward role and would more of a asset.

As much as I would be happy to let Khamis search for more opportunities to player senior football I'm not inclined to let him go for a pick in the 50's.

If a vastly improved offer doesn't come through should we keep him or should we do the right thing and help him depart?
Right now with no KDP coming in I think we almost have to keep him for depth at least. Out of contract we take that offer but because he has one year left we can command a better deal. Pick in the 30s-40s ideally but maybe we can poach a FF2nd round pick?

I'd like us to get a taller defender but there is a chance a midfielder is a bigger priority for the club.
It sounds like we're targeted in what we're after - a player with a mix of speed and endurance in that role who can push big kilometres at good intensity.

Florent may fit that bill? He's the only one that springs to mind, but we seem to be working more towards an underappreciated youngster.

You don't think we should bring in Budarick? 10 times seems a stretch

Basically we got a jump start and have had a few months to work with Sellwood and Walker and they gained finals and GF experiences at the VFL level.

If you look at this when we only draft 2 or maybe 3 players this year remember that Sellwood and Walker fill in those missing spots.
A very quick age bracket of our squad:

    18-23: (17)
O’Donnell, Busslinger, Freijah, Darcy, Sanders, Hynes, Croft
Cleary, Sellwood, Jaques, Kennedy, Gallagher, Poulter, Dolan, Walker, Jones, Smith

    24-29: (17)
Dale, Budarick, Williams, Davidson, Naughton, Kennedy, Weightman, West, English, Richards, Bramble
Gardner, Coffield, Baker, Vandermeer, McNeil, Garcia

    30+: (6)
    Lobb, Bontempelli, Liberatore, Treloar
    Harmes, Johannisen

Makes sense to only bring on 2-3 kids as they nearly make up half the squad already!

I think people are fine with our draft strategy overall. I think the frustration is coming from the trade period especially when comparing ourselves to the other top teams. Seems like that key back won't be filled and if it isn't, will put lots of eyes on list management and the coaches next year and fairly enough imo. We know our weakness and haVE the off season to address so the internal improvement would want to be drastic if no talent comes in. Also would be hoping guys like Butts, May etc have poor seasons, just imagine if Butts had an all aus type of year, I think that would be enough for some supporters.

Obviously not tested at this stage.
Good question. I've only seen him play 3 times - all of which were the VFL finals.

He has some nice qualities, some of his acts of desperation were encouraging. He's courageous in the air but I liked a few of his efforts at ground level.

I'm not as bullish on him as some others, but that's only because I've only seen him 3 times. There's some promise but I need to see more before I could be confident that he can make the step up.
