I'd probably prefer some others but who knows

These are the first 12 players who have received an invite for night one of the draft

      Willem Duursma
      Cooper Duff-Tytler
      Sam Grlj
      Xavier Taylor
      Sullivan Robey
      Harry Dean
      Zeke Uwland
      Dylan Patterson
      Dan Annable
      Dyson Sharp
      Sam Cumming
      Jacob Farrow

Dopes it strengthen the likeliness that Lindsay goes a bit later in the draft?
That list is a good indication on who is going in the first 12 and it could all come down to Hawthorn and who they select. Twomey said they are linked to Lindsay and Dovaston and looking at there list I think Lindsay suits them better.

Bailey dale will be 30 next year. I wouldn't hate having someone with elite kicking skills in the wings.

Perhaps going Dovaston frees West to have more stints in the midfield? Coming around to the idea if he does indeed slide to our pick

West has just come off his most productive season as a forward and while I'm sure he could be a very decent midfielder, I'm in no hurry to put him into the midfield rotations based on bringing in a draftee.

Dovaston is probably in a short list of players we are considering for that 1st pick of ours

Some in-depth thinking from this fella.

Ed Pascoe’s 2025 Phantom AFL Draft

              WESTERN BULLDOGS

              37 Senior

              1 Cat B

              4 Rookie

              2 National Picks

              2 Rookie Upgrades

              List balance targets

              2 Small/General Forwards

              1 Tall Forward

              Draft Selections

              Pick 16 – Lachlan Dovaston

              Pick 31 – Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves

              Rookie – Will Darcy

Rookie Upgrades – Oskar Baker, James O’Donnell

Small forwards should be the aim of the game for the Dogs and Dovaston has clearly been the best performed throughout the year. If he isn’t available maybe they look at Pickett or Phillipou. Cumming would also be a good option if he slid here.

The same conundrum will be at their next pick with Hibbins-Hargreaves potentially on the board although I feel he might be a wing long term. Byrne could be a real option here or even the hard working Dalton who could play that small forward role. Darcy could get a late bid which they can still match, though he could just as easily slide through to the rookie intake.

All good selections, I wonder if we would go for two forwards and Darcy who is projected as a forward?
He mentioned Talor Byrne as an option. If you have time please check him out and tell me if he's not a CCP clone?

I'd like West to play in a similar role to Toby Greene - damaging forward with brief stints in the middle as needed

I can see the CCP reference may be slightly better disposal

Interesting us getting pick 53. Feels like we’re setting up to trade out our first pick

Hope we get Threadgold (gvgjr sold me) and a speedster to add to our mix this draft

Could it not just be to match a potential Darcy bid?

FYI for those who haven't heard:

West Coast and Western Bulldog have reportedly made a pick swap ahead of the closing of the trade window on Friday.

AFL Media’s Callum Twomey reports the Eagles have moved their Pick 53 to the Bulldogs in exchange for a future fourth-round pick.

West Coast holds three first-round picks including the first two overall selections in the National Draft later this month.

Just a hunch because bringing in another pick when we appear likely to pick up max 3 players seems curious. I thought we’d be right if a bid comes late for Darcy.
it might be to keep options open… or my thinking was we may have identified someone late in the draft and we want to get some draft capital in for next year by trading our early pick

Twomey said we are keeping our first pick. What I think has happened is we have got some mail that a bid is coming for Darcy so we need points to match.

You sure are spot on about that comparison Gary , very simular types , this Byrne moves alot like CCP kicks left footed the same as CCP , both seem very neat kicks over short distances , Byrne looks a stronger mark though , but all in all , the two are very much alike .
