Does this mean we get to contest the Foxtel Cup next year?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Did they axe it after the final?

Watching the replay of the GF taped overnight on the ABC. I hope the result stays the same.

Finished watching the replay. Awesome viewing.

Jarrod Grant played so, so much better than I recall. If he'd kicked straight he might have been best on.

Cicely smashed the shite out of Jong at the end for the 50. Lin got up smiling. Smiling!!

Not many on this board gave Grant praise, but he was very good, probably his best game for the year with 20 disposals. Really should have had 5 goals, but what I liked was he was consistent throughout the 4 quarters.

But he didn't have 5 goals!!! If he'd have kicked the goals then Box Hill wouldn't have been in the game!
Don't underestimate how costly bad kicking is to a teams chances of winning.

You don't get the point, he had 20 disposals and was very creative and got himself in a position that 5 goals was a possibility.

I am not saying he was BOG, I am just saying he played a good game.

The last time Grant went near hostile waters he came off second best to a sting ray.

I'm quite sure I do get the point. I'm disagreeing with you, but I do get the point.
I'm not saying he was awful - but 'what if's' don't really count for much. Its fine to say 'he could have kicked 5' - but the scoreboard says he kicked one. And I won't be petty and highlight how he got that goal - because a goal is a goal. But missing those pretty easy shots enabled Box hill to not only stay in the game - but they actually got to a point where they probably should have won, but for running out of bench and legs, and a spirited fightback led by Jong, Jones and Dickson.

He hung out the back of some contests and got some opportunities, which is probably fine at VFL level, but you get badly exposed for doing the same at AFL level.

Apologies for being negative on a celebratory thread. I just get very very frustrated with the numerous players on our list who don't take their opportunities in front of goal. It cost us games during the year, it cost Port a grand final berth last week.

There is little point in getting 20 touches if as a forward your disposal is so poor. There was one brief period where Grant had 3 shots on goal and even though they were all easy shots he didn't look like scoring due to a technique that simply isn't up to standard.

I think he tends to kick across his body or off the wrong foot when he has given himself plenty of time to straighten up when shooting for goal.

FWIW I thought his field kicking on Sunday was good on the whole. He made a couple of clangers but he hit his targets for the most part. His goalkicking ws pretty average. He kicks for goal like Peter Hudson but not with the same accuracy.

I'll have to watch it again. Apart from the 3 misses Grant had in the first quarter I thought he was pretty solid.

That is exactly the point was making. I thought he played a pretty good consistent 4 quarters

5.0 for Grant instead of 1.3 and one out of bounds would have been nicer, but there was still another 15 disposals in there that were mostly effective. That still puts him in our top 5 contributors for the game.
