Was worried when he slipped over in that first contest but he was solid after that. Talia had a great game too.

A comment was made during the 3rd quarter that if Jones was playing VFL for anyone else, he'd be "linked to us".

How difficult would it be to have level 3 closed for some of our home games? I know North have done it in the past for games against interstate sides. Makes such a difference to the atmosphere.

There was a moment of absurdity when they set up the presentation stage with its back to the crowd! Ridiculous! Luckily the crowd were able to break free and swarm around it

What a super, super day. Wonderful to be a part of it, fantastic experience for the boys and they thoroughly deserved it. They fought like - I was going to say demons, but they were far better than that. They were dogged and fierce and it was brilliant to watch.

A victory for the Footscray faithful, and an amazing achievement for Chris Maple and his team.

Lot's of comments regarding crowd numbers on a Sunday here. I think due to the local junior football and other sporting leagues having wrapped up their winter seasons by this stage may have helped.

Still, one of the great days following the 'Dogs. Not sure if it was because "it was just the seconds" but I didn't have as much riding on it as I would normally in an AFL game, so my expectations were, to be honest, a bit "ho-hum". However, the excitement generated amongst the crowd was brilliant along with the performance of the younger guys it soon dawned on me that it was going to be a little bit special.

Whilst the achievement is great, I think we are going to benefit more from the experience. In Jong, we have our replacement for Boyd. Jones can still make it. Hopefully he wants to stay. Talia and Roberts are going to be good defenders at AFL level. Darley will be good for us and JJ will play regularly in the AFL. Combine these guys with Jack, Jake, Lachie, Bonts and co and we will have a competitive outfit over the next 8 years.

Well done to Chris Maple and his staff along with the Western Bulldogs Footy Department and especially Peter Gordon for putting the Footscray back into Footy.

                This is dizzy stuff.

The atmosphere on Level 1 is always a lot better than Level 3. However the club and the stadium don't want to discourage people from buying reserved seating and losing the dollars.

How did everyone view Howard's performance? He seemed to get a bit of it earlier but made some glaring mistakes.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Kicked the one that put us in front for good even if it was a mongrel. Couldn't care what he did before that. He'll always be remembered as a Bulldog now. I've been a harsh critic but I was so happy for him yesterday.

Had a really dirty first quarter but worked hard after that. Was so rapt to see him drill the one to put us in front. There were calls of 'sign him up!' emanating from the stand.

I don't care what some supporters say, but I don't want to lose Grant either in a trade. I would hate for Grant and Jones to play for someone else and really stick it up us. I thought Grant was fantastic yesterday even though he had the yipps. Should have kicked another 4 goals himself.

Yes he is inconsistent, but boy is he a talent. Lets hope he has a good pre-season and comes out firing next year.

Strange feeling before the match, more excitement and hope than nerves. Several of my family discussed this before the game and the consensus was that should we somehow make an AFL Grand Final, we are likely be too much of a nervous wreck to really enjoy it. I expect I would be physically ill.
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

I actually thought that all our rookies had very good games. Austin was very good down back, Greenwood made a strong contribution to our centre dominance with 25 disposals and six clearances and Redpath played with presence, kicking two goals and stopped Jones from being double teamed.

If they were VFL listed only they would all be being talked about as possible draftees. It is unfortunate that the three year rule means they are unlikely to be with us next year. If they were already listed players I suspect they would all be given more time.
