Singapore put an app on every persons phone that was supposed to be self Isolating. If you leave home, you are sent to jail. If you are an expat, you are sent home. Now that is the way you control people.

Wouldn't you just leave your phone at home? Our government tracks us too via our phones-it's what all that BS about metadata that Shorten stupidly waved through on the last day of sitting in 2018. If he hadn't agreed to that then he would have been prime minister, but the caucus knew they couldn't trust him and didn't support him 100% at the 2019 election.

Shorten's paranoia and his lack of willingness to trust anyone cost labor the last election. They didn't even have an election committee-it was just Shorten and a couple of his dickhead mates running the show.

Take the small victories. Our curve shows very preliminary signs of flattening.

Top US CDC boss just said they’ll have millions of cases and between 100,000-200,000 deaths.

This shit is deadly serious. But hopefully we can flatten the curve and avoid being one of these horrible cases. To our US and international woofers, stay safe!!!!

For 1, our border should be closed for at least 3-6 months after the infection is under control.

I'd increase that to 12 - 18 months minimum and it should be a global decision not just single countries.

Absolutely take the wins.

Infection rate from 25-30% this time last week to somewhere in the low teens is a good result, and with more focus and sacrifice we can play catch up even more effectively before winter kicks in.

I'd be highly surprised if any country singed up to that. Our tourism and education sectors which are just huge for our economy will be crippled if we go it alone. Our professional service sector relies on Asia heavily, we should probably worry more about Asian countries not allowing migration from Australia.

We need to understand what can be done in terms of an effective vaccine.

Thanks Jeemak, I’m hearing it got leaked first coz Myer had to announce it to the AXS first, hence media got wind of it and went with the story. This was announced about 9pm. “Some” staff got text messages about 11:30pm from the company, but ofcourse, majority knew by then anyway lol.

A colleagues wife works in the head office and she was hearing on Wednesday last week they would likely be stood down
It's a huge thing when department stores are closed because they employ so many people.

I think the NZ prime minister has done a fantastic job. Pretty much went into lockdown when they reached 100 infected. That’s getting on the front foot early, and they e just had their first unfortunate death.

It seems like our government is doing the slow burn to full lockdown (I’m sure it will eventually get to this). It’s a fine line between health and economy, but I don’t think we have a choice here. Slow burn probably means 6-12 months.

Yes, that doesn’t surprise me GVGjr. We had 70% off all Easter 2 weeks before Easter. That gave us an indication at store level we wouldn’t be open for Easter period, but we expected the announcement to come on top of stage 3 lockdowns, not go it alone.

I am relieved in some way. Even though sales had dropped dramatically, families/groups etc were continuously shopping putting staff at risk of infection. The self isolating/1.5 metre rules were not being adhered too, and customers in general couldn’t give a stuff.

End of rant lol.

From what I have seen the supermarkets are doing it well. It takes a lot longer to get served but it's done as good as you can hope for all things considered. The department stores I'm told are a lot harder to control. I want to get something from Harvey Norman but will wait because I don't want the delivery guys to have deliver something that isn't essential

Some people still don't get it. I was coming out of the supermarket on Saturday and noticed so many things that defied commonsense.
Families of 4 and 5 all shopping together...surely this is a one person job given the environment
People squeezing into lifts rather than waiting or taking the ramps etc

We still have a way to go at the moment
