    Thanks Eastdog.

Some other people from the east I know have reaffirmed their wish to blow up the West Gate Bridge so yours is a welcome difference!

During the times we have been out of lockdown this year I have really enjoyed driving over to the west from the east and enjoy the pubs there. I know the streets and back streets very well now in Footscray, Seddon and Yarraville. Will be great to get back there again soon. I go there via Dynon Road. A lot of important essential workers over there keeping things going during these trying times and I appreciate all that they do.

Agree Easty, you found the other way in

My dad used to own a servo near the WGB and drove under it when it fell. He helped recover people afterwards, he never got over it even in his last days it was something that haunted him.

So it's a little grating when people discard the west like that, but that's the deal with people at times to make themselves feel important.

Agree hope everyone avoids the worst of it.

Yep the other connections from the city over the Maribyrnong River to the west. The West Gate was the first crossing to the west over the Yarra River. That was a tragic day the West Gate Bridge collapse. Lots of workplace health and safety laws came in after that happened.

There is a great doco that Shane Jacobsen was a big part of that aired recently that covered the WGB collapse and told the human story.
It's well worth a watch if you ever get a chance.

Great to see an Essendon-supporting Premier at the Whitten Oval behind a Bulldogs lectern on a day when we are going to smash his Bombers!

Not sure if it's a good or bad omen!

Nathan Burke spoke about the work the community foundation is doing he spoke quite well.

Was a good omen in the end

I remember the day the bridge fell down well. Like a lot of men my dad drove over to see if he could help. I well remember hoping that another section wouldn't fall while he was there. The other thing I remember was that a few of the kids I was at primary school with had dads who worked on it (like John Setka) and hoping their dads were OK.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Believe he went to Kingsville Primary and Footscray High.

Same schools as me. Same years too. His name was Setkopoulos (or something like that, definitely not Setka) back then. Ironically my dad was the president of the CFMEU when it first amalgamated in the '80s. He stepped down because he wasn't comfortable advocating for the forestry (the 'F' in CFMEU) union. He was a bit of a tree hugging Greenie.

Setka has been charged with domestic violence act. Not a nice bloke at all.
