We're living in a dictatorship but let our politicians keep telling us how great the country is and how bad other parts of the world are.

Hard to believe we're still dealing with this shit in the same way as all of 2020 when other parts of the world are opening up. It's like we had that good run at the start of the year and the feds thought 'she'll be right mate' and put the feet up.

Are our politicians too scared ? Other parts of the world are understanding that the virus is here to stay. Full crowd at the cricket (Eng vs Ind), sold out show in Boston (guns n roses) and both those countries have thousands a day, but with vaccinations well under way, they are starting to make those decisions that allows fellow men and woman to start leading a normal life again.

Australia says that once 80% of the population is fully vaccinated, we will not see ANY lockdowns. I still don’t believe it, coz it’s proven, you only have to see a handful, and the prison walls go up overnight.

No premier will want any bad outbreak on their watch…and like anything…it’s all politics.

We're on a *!*!*!*!ing island in the middle of nowhere with a strong economy, a world class health system and first world infrastructure and conditions, if any country should have knocked this pandemic out of the park it's Australia. Yet here we are, most of the population across the entire country is in some form of lockdown 18 months since the whole thing started, business owners are giving up, lots of people are scraping by on barely sufficient government support and there is really no end in sight.

Our leaders have failed us badly.

Here is what life will be like once they get it together. This is how Italy deals with it. They still have cases each day but life goes on.
This was from an article in Theage.

"But life goes on. Currently there is no lockdown threat (though locals fear that could change in Winter). While Melbourne closed businesses and cancelled events for merely 15 daily cases, my Roman friends are attending the opera and I'm traveling to Ischia and Capri for a holiday; all 20 regional borders are open.

There are no QR code check-ins but a focus on vaccination and testing. You can take a rapid test at pharmacies and get vaccinated while you're there too! And you can pick up DIY COVID tests and antibody tests at the supermarket - a world away from "rings of steel" and "doughnut days".

There has been a spike here in Shanghai, and more people are wearing masks. QR codes are required in shopping centres.

Failed to order the vaccine. Such incompetence is unbelievable.

Italy are at less than 60% vaccinated and have 5000+ cases a day, yet from the sounds of it are moving forward. Makes a mockery of whatever the *!*!*!*! we're trying to accomplish here.

We are only 16.3% fully vaccinated.

Second last in the OECD. Our wealth, our health care system and our medical capability and we're second last in the OECD.

That's just such a full on thing to think about.

Been to that Coles in Yarraville square as well. Haven’t spotted any of our players there yet. I think Libba now lives in Kingsville. Lately I have only been driving around the inner western suburbs to get my driving experience up but have not got out of the car at all.

Not sure how that works, I certainly wasn’t asked any questions about my ethnicity when I had either of my AZs.

Yeah don’t recall being asked that either when I went to get my Pfizer shot.
