Fischer-Z, did they do that song called So Long? I used to hang shit on a mate for liking that when I was in High School!
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

      Trusty Chords.

I'm rediscovering Hot Water Music all over again and it's been a good time.

Yes they did TD. It was on '1980 The Summer' compilation.

They were a genuine two-hit wonder, alongside The Romantics. I always enjoyed the two-hit wonders more than the one-hit wonders - not many bands had lightning strike only twice at different stages of their career.

I saw the Romantics in 1981 or 1982, They were the band where the drummer sang weren't they?. It was at one of those Rocktober shows with the Numbers (genuine one hit wonders-Five Letter Word)

They weren't your proper New wave/romantics band - the best ones came out of Manchester

And Melbourne at that time. Birthday Party and those bands that came after them, Moodists and Ears and all them.

              The Romantics were American?

Yep, and the drummer was their main vocalist - he sang their big hit 'What I like about you'. Their other massive hit was 'Talking in Your Sleep', which came out a few years later.

                  Hello Dolly, Louie Armstrong
Little Green Bag - George Baker
Glory to the World - Three Dog Night

Incidentally, I didn't know this but three dog night refers to Australian aboriginal slang for 'it's a cold night'. They used to dig a hole in the earth and sleep with dogs. The band read this and liked it. I guess everyone knows that, I didn't!

Yeah, nah, I didn't know that either

Did you know that nobody knows how Louis Armstrong pronounced his own first name? In Hello Dolly he goes with Louis with the hard S (Well hello Dolly. It's Louis, Dolly) but that's the narrator of the song speaking and the one thing that almost everyone agrees on was he didn't pronounce it like that.

Wow, totally agree with you there Jeemak. This one brings back happy memories for me too.

I will add a classic from the 90's. Smashing pumpkins 'Today'. Apart from having the words 'today is the greatest day I've ever known', it has a pretty uplifting feel to it. Worked for me when I was a teenager.

There's a thread worth starting, "bands/artists that your parents got you into" I can still remember nearly 40 years ago finding a box full of Frank Sinatra records one night when my parents had gone out and left me home alone. It's still a huge joke in the family that mum and dad got home to find me asleep on the floor with "Something Stupid" playing on the record player over and over again. I've always loved Frankie ever since

Fortunately I can't credit anyone in my family for helping develop my musical tastes!

                            Gold!

It wasn't mum that gave us Fischer Z, it was me and my stupid brother who were always going to be Brit Pop wankers and techno wankers that took the dose in preparation for our future lives.

Now - Talking Heads Psycho Killer just re-popped into the repertoire these past few weeks. What a tune. It literally has everything you want from a disaffected outfit. Enjoy...…..and yes, it does put me in a good mood.

Super tight across all the lines and structures of the tune. Super tight.
