I'm watching the brave Ukrainian people defend their country with all their might against a brutal invasion . Probably won't be posting much til this is resolved. Am devastated by the unnecessary loss of life, but also inspired by the brave resistance of the Ukrainian people against their much bigger aggressor.
I know we don't do politics on here, so I'll leave it at that.

It's hard to not be impressed by their resilience and patriotic love of their country. I too have been touched by the way they are standing up for their country.
The leaders of the country are setting very high standards.

Likewise. And I've also used it as an opportunity to reflect upon fascist/ authoritarian aggression we let go, by and by, as a contrast to fascist action we find unacceptable.

It's a massive elephant in the room we all have to deal with. You (anyone) might consider this political, but I don't care, fascism and authoritarianism isn't the way forward, and the west (we as people.....I guess) need to put a line in the sand and get pissed off about things that aren't Ukraine in addition to how we're feeling right now. We can't have it both ways.

100% Agree Jee. I hope, but am not confident, that all of this brings to the surface the grubby money and powerful connections the supposed 'free-world' have benefited from, cosying up to Russian oligarchs -and thus enabling Putin to get to this position. Hope this shines a light on the broader connections the world has with other super rich people in other countries where atrocities are being committed. There is no free world whilst super elite money and power is supported by nations and companies around the globe.

But right now, Ukraine faces an existential crisis. The world needs Ukraine to prevail. My hearts go out to their people, and just as I admire their bravery, I fear for the horrors that they will face now and in the coming months if, as I expect Russian military prevails on the battlefield. Then the real war will begin, and the horrors will mount evermore.

They do an amazing job at the Gallowgate end prior to the match.

Are you in the UK yet?

I didn't realise I had mentioned it more than five hundred times (possibly) here. I head off around 1800 next Saturday.

Was thinking about trying to get to a NUFC game but with some insights shared from another idiot NUFC tragic who may reside around here I figured it might be best just to enjoy the time I have there without stressing about it.

Two weeks work, two weeks not work, flights paid by work. Pretty happy with the outcome, my first game live might be Good Friday but most likely Adelaide 23 April.

Watched this on the weekend too.

Also just finished Ted Lasso (late to the party). Really enjoyed it, one of the most enjoyable shows I have watched in a long time. Wasn't a fan of the Nate story arc but after reading a bit more on it I missed some of the early warning signs and can sort of understand it. Hopefully there is a satisfying conclusion to it in Season 3.
