Each Ep goes for four and half hours though. Geez a lot of stuff happens to him. Every psycho in England seems to have him on speed dial.
Good show though. It might go for a while but the pacing is just right.
Luther is the third most viewed TV show in the world when they factor in viewing figures, downloading and DVD sales and all the other ways people watch shows now.
Midsummer Murders is number one and Miss Fisher is number two.
I enjoy Luther and I love watching Idris Elba but the plotting of that show is ludicrous beyond measure.
About 4 eps into Master of None, Aziz Ansari's series. Pretty enjoyable so far. Also 3 eps into Narcos

the best character and actor in series 1 (and a small part in series 2) was the crack addict informer (cant remember his name) .
Bubbles, and heroin is his tipple. Really great character. My favourite character is Omar, so much conflict inside one dude.
There are 5 series of the Wire. I'm a political junkie so I really enjoyed the docks and the maroyal election series but they are all outstanding. Maybe series 5 might be a little boring for some but I love newspapers so a whole series about a newsroom was great.

It does tend to get a bit silly sometimes, kind of like the writers have to be too clever but really it's just a silly tangent. We get it, he attracts head cases. Let him solve a normal crime.
Aziz Ansari the produced the Office didn't he?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
I agree with TD on The Wire. Just gets better for 4 seasons, but ran out of a little steam in the 5th (still very good).
As an aside, one of the key writers of The Wire is George Pelecanos. He's also a really good crime novelist, bases all his books around the Washington DC/Baltimore underbelly. Anyone here a fan? Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys that kind of thing.

Yeah. I've been reading Pelecanos for years. Especially love the older "Nick Stefanos" stories. His last book The Double was worthwhile.
He drops some great music references too.

Thanks guys. I downloaded and started to read A Firing Offence after I read your posts. I've just worked out what I will be reading over the next few days off work.

Which do you think is his best book? Or which book should i start with? Is there a reoccurring lead character?
Azabob, he's written a few different series, his earlier books feature Nick Stefanos as the main character, the first of these is A Firing Offense. His other really strong series of books is the DC Quartet which starts with The Big Blowdown, another really good place to start. His more recent series starts with Right As Rain, that's good also.
Hey Underdog, as a fan of the genre, what do you think of James Ellroy? In this style, he's the writer I like best.
