    Gotta start somewhere Easty.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Yep get your foot in the door and then you can go places. It's very tough out there for many Uni graduates to find work but you just have to keep trying.

There's a couple of WOOFers who started the same way and are now in reasonably senior positions. Work hard, show enthusiasm, and let them know you're ambitious and opportunities will open. Developing a particular skill such as Excel, SQL etc will give you an advantage too.

I'm definitely not turning it down. I see it as a good opportunity but it's just a bit disappointing that it's so competitive now for uni graduates that even (relevant) casual jobs can be hard to come by.

Absolutely. I've seen my uncle work his way up to executive level at another bank.

I normally start at the start. Sometimes I start at the end and work backwards.

Try working at a bank. I have endless reports, presentations, and other associated printouts with me all the time. I actually clear out my satchel once a month and it's still full most of the time. Paperless is generations away, especially at large corporations.

Also been on the job hunt after finishing uni.

Tough going, thought I'd be OK given my experiences but so far no such luck. A possible interview with Golf Australia in a couple of weeks, but (naturally) it'll be starting out at the bottom.

Good luck BB. Watched a program a month or so back showing how tough it is for Uni students to get jobs on the completion of their studies compared to young tradesman who are finding it much easier. The eventual income of the Tradesman stacks up well too compared to the white collar jobs. Tried calling a plumber lately.

Yeah if I had my time again, I would have likely done a trade at 17-18 y.o - or studied something specific (eg. Nutrition)- PR and Sport Rec (among other courses) are far too broad.

That's an actual technique for creative problem solving an instrucer told me once. When I asked him to explain he said "you just throw it against the wall and see what sticks" I still don't know what he meant.

It means thinking out loud and trying things, instead of trying to figure it all out in your head

Which is why the government's higher education message is so frustrating (one of several reasons). They claim uni students will earn much more than non uni students but I doubt that's the case for most people attending uni now.
