We're gonna be able to sort of semi-relive our beloved doggies flag again by watching the emotions of cubs fans and the news. Lots of similarities - generational celebrations etc. Just re-enforcing in my head the DOGGIES WON THE FLAG THIS YEAR!!!

              It really is underdog year!
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Didn't we have a poster who went by the name of Underdog ?

                      Re: MLB post season

What an incredibly stressful game 7 - I think it got too much for some of the players at times, so many mental errors by players out there - Davis forgetting there was only one out and allowing Bryant to score on a sac fly that barely made it out of the infield, Baez bunting with a full count ans one out, Schwarber trying to stretch out a double, Maddon's puzzling pitching changes, some of the pitch selections from Chapman and Miller, and some horrible at bats from Napoli, Baez and the 180 million dollar bust Heyward. The umpires weren't immune either - Sam Holbrook's strike zone was all over the place, and how did Hirschbeck miss the Baez drop at 2nd base when trying to turn 2 - lucky for him there is replay now so he didn't potentially become another Don Denkinger.

It's a shame we have to listen to MLB International's coverage every year - we used to have to endure the annoying Gary Thorne, and now we cop walking noise pollution Matt Vasgersian (learn to breathe man) and boring Buck Martinez (the same boring facts over and over again). Makes you long for the days of Jack Buck, Vin Scully et al.

As for Jason Kipnis, who after game 4 was spruiking how he was looking forward to breaking the heart of every single Cubs fan around the world - Karma bus man. The Baseball Gods have spoken - they don't like pretentiousness, arrogance and hubris.

The Baez drop was a horrible call. What was he thinking.

Heyward was just a waste of space.

                            Re: MLB post season

I can't believe that in one month and one day both of the teams I love have won their sport's championships. As a lifelong Cubs fan(that's 64 years, you youngins) tonight's win was unforgettable. I just wish my mum would have stuck around for five more months to witness it. Imagine living for 90 years and never seeing your favourite team win a championship. She watched most games on TV and always listened to the radio broadcast in the afternoon when she took a nap. Her last evening before she went into hospice we watched the Cubs on TV beat the Phillies at Philadelphia. I never expected at that time that that would be the last game she would ever see. I know she would have been happy for me to go to Melbourne to see the Bulldogs win, but tonight would have been special for her. I know she was with me tonight. I had the pic of the two of us taken at Wrigley ten years ago and her pink Cubs cap next to me. She would have loved to have seen the smile on Kris Bryant's face as he threw the ball to Anthony Rizzo for the last out.

I'm just glad that all of you, and hopefully your parents and loved ones, were able to see the Dogs win the Premiership. I know I won't ever forget June 16, Oct 1 and Nov 2 of 2016. I cried each of those days, one was tears of sorrow and the other two tears of joy.

                              Congrats Chicago1 !!

Having read your recent posts I decided to check on the scores every so often whilst at work today. So glad you won. What a nail biter!! The Cubs team colours appear to be RWB too.

Your thoughtful and poignant posts remind us to hug our parents heaps whilst they are still with us, and to remember fondly those that are no longer with us.

2016 will definitely be remembered very fondly be many as the year when sporting underdogs prevailed.
                              Josie :)

                              Our day will come
                              And we'll have everything.
                              We'll share the joy
                              Just like '54 again.
