Re: MLB post season
Congratulations Cubs fans! especially you Chicago1. Sport brings families closer together. I know i don't get to see my brother & father as much during the off season but the bulldogs always brings us together.
Thank you to the Cubs & Indians teams for putting on a must watch World Series filled with so much drama. Game 7 was 4+ hours of edge of your seat stuff. Loved every minute of it. I love this game!Comment

In fact we should set up some sort of official partnership between us and the Cubs . The red, white and blue drought smashing duo. 170 years of misery flushed down the toilet within 31 days of each other. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: MLB post season
I can't believe that in one month and one day both of the teams I love have won their sport's championships. As a lifelong Cubs fan(that's 64 years, you youngins) tonight's win was unforgettable. I just wish my mum would have stuck around for five more months to witness it. Imagine living for 90 years and never seeing your favourite team win a championship. She watched most games on TV and always listened to the radio broadcast in the afternoon when she took a nap. Her last evening before she went into hospice we watched the Cubs on TV beat the Phillies at Philadelphia. I never expected at that time that that would be the last game she would ever see. I know she would have been happy for me to go to Melbourne to see the Bulldogs win, but tonight would have been special for her. I know she was with me tonight. I had the pic of the two of us taken at Wrigley ten years ago and her pink Cubs cap next to me. She would have loved to have seen the smile on Kris Bryant's face as he threw the ball to Anthony Rizzo for the last out.
I'm just glad that all of you, and hopefully your parents and loved ones, were able to see the Dogs win the Premiership. I know I won't ever forget June 16, Oct 1 and Nov 2 of 2016. I cried each of those days, one was tears of sorrow and the other two tears of joy.
We've had the pleasure of watching cubbies games with you for a couple of years and we always had a great time, For the cubbies to win must mean so much to you, we were celebrating it loud and proud here too, my mum even said "Jim must be going out of his mind!!!"
Really sad to hear about your mum, maybe it was with her help that got everything over the line.
Hope to see you in Chi town again soon.
And remember, we've all been into the Dogs and Cubs long before they were cool!Comment

Re: MLB post season
I spent all of yesterday on an Internet blackout so I could watch the Cubs game without knowing the result. So great to win a sudden death game like that and get to move on. Arrieta is pitching historically well and if anyone wants to see a ball hit with exquisite timing watch a replay of Kyle Schwarbers home run which cleared the outfield bleachers. The playoffs in general should be loads of fun with some unexpected teams in there. This has been an amazing year to be a Cubs and a Dogs fan.
Speaking of underdogs, I saw Tab post a slip showing that if you had a multi of $1 on Leicester, Cubs, Cavs, Cronulla, and the Dogs you would take away over $26 Million.Last edited by The Adelaide Connection; 05-11-2016, 12:53 PM.Comment

Re: MLB post season
Haven't seen game 7 yet( thankfully I taped the two shows after game 7)
You could see this happening 12 months ago to be honest as the Cubs were building rapidly
Love madden, he's quirky and laid back, as is Francona . The loose manager/ coach seems to be really succeeding now .Comment

Being in Melbourne to see the Doggies win the Grand Final and watching the Cubs win the World Series just a few days ago still seems unreal. Mum would have been thrilled for both. She was with me at the GF and I just know that she caused the rain delay from heaven during Game 7. She loved Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo and it's no surprise she maneuvered that last out from Bryant to Rizzo.
I should be back in Melbourne by the end of the month, so we'll have to catch up. Give my best to your mum. And tell her that I haven't been back to that outlet mall since your visit five years ago!47 year Doggie member

Re: MLB post season
Well done Cubbies....
Everyone's favourite NL team... (between the Cubs, White Sox and Red Sox, those three clubs won in 1903, 1906, 1907, 1908, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1917 & 1918..... Nine from 16 at my rough count...
Then nothing for 86 years.
Then, between 2004 and 2016, they've suddenly won five from 13 between them....)
I like this stat of dormant, sleeping GIANT clubs suddenly awakening and DOMINATING comps!
Go Dogs!.... The dynasty HAS begun!...
(Pardon the Giants pun..!..)Comment

Re: MLB post season
Great to see the Indians win it . The Mets have stunk it up and that division has been over for a while .
Truckload of injuries though, and hope the cubs hold of that horrid Cardinal lot.ESPN getting rid of Baseball tonight has left me less engaged than I have been before . Looking forward to OctoberComment
