I was having a look at the WA team and they player 4 players with genuine wicket keeping abilities

Whiteman, Bancroft, Philippe and Inglis. Inglis was the preferred keeper in this game

Is that more because of the explosion in T20 cricket? Do some players get a 'role' as keeper in T20 games who wouldn't really cut the mustard in the longer form of the game?

T20 is a lot more forgiving than the long form of the game for the fielders in the arc.

I think they are all decent keepers, I'll bow to Lem's knowledge but I suspect they are all better than Handscomb with the gloves

I kept for years at park level but I must admit that I have never really taken T20 form in any part of the game all that seriously. Like I said at T20 level a few blokes get the gloves who wouldn't really be taken seriously at the long form (or even limited overs) cricket.

Keeping is bloody hard. It's all pressure and the equipment that you wear gets really hot and uncomfortable after a couple of hours but any mistake that you make is amplified by 1000 in terms of the runs that it costs your team. A lot of players assume that they can do it but they get found out quickly. It's not like the first slip can just take a step to the right and put the gloves on. They get found out.

Philippe and Inglis are genuine keepers too - they probably feel like Philippe offers more as a middle-order batsman so Inglis gets the gloves.

Phillippe is one of my young cricketers to watch this year. Little bit of the right-handed David Warners about him in terms of stature and the way he gets his hands through the ball. He hasn't quite made it yet in first-class cricket, but there's a lot to like about him.

Lone hand from Maddinson with 69 out of 127. He may be an outside chance to return to the test team with some excellent shield form and a call up for the Australia A team.

One of those cases when picking him for the test side early hurt more than helped.

He actually has just said in a recent interview that he didn't think he deserved to be picked 3 years ago. It's a good example of why they must be careful with the selection of Pucovski.

Couldn't agree more, he's a special talent but he needs to get a few more Shield games experience

I think he will be picked for the first test but I caution against it

I don't like the idea either. He makes big hundreds but he just doesn't seem ready for the step up in class yet to me.
