It's unreal they are in that position now. Their form line suggested it should have been an easy passage into the final 4.

      Agreed.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019

Weird game yesterday. 2nd time in a week at Lords and they used the same pitch as they used against England. Weather since Tuesday has been warm and yesterday was a scorcher (for the UK) at 34 deg. Expectations were that the pitch would dry our and be a better batting surface. It was anything but. Only Carey got to grips with the pitch and he batted beautifully. He does 2 things well as a batsman, he times the ball well and he finds gaps. Its a big call but he will be Australia's no.1 keeper in 2 years.

Aside from this, and I am sounding like a broken record, I though Australia finished about 20 runs short of par - mainly due to Boult's last over......0 runs and 3 wickets from his last 4 balls, including a hat trick. Australia's innings never got going. Khawaja and Carey's 100 run stand the difference between the two sides.

Good win to England, but they need to beat NZ to make semi's

          Scenarios

          If ENG beats NZ

Australia v New Zealand (Old Trafford)

          India v England (Birmingham)

          If NZ beats ENG

          Australia v Pakistan (Old Trafford)

          India v New Zealand (Birmingham)

Impressive win by England but what was Donhi doing in the last 6 overs? It was like he just wanted to get them close not win the game

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019

This World Cup is showing just how tough it is to chase down a total and the importance of having bowlers who can keep it tight. They let England get away from them early and though the clawed it back the damage was done. Then in the Indian innings, they were pinned down by good English bowling. Great result for England.

Based on what I saw at Lords on Saturday I cannot see the Kiwi's beating England. Their batting outside of Williamson is not anywhere near strong enough.

Even before that - the partnership between Kohli and Sharma was far too slow.

I get that chasing over 300 isn't the impossibility it used to be...but you still need to put up 340ish runs. You can't wipe off the first 10 overs and be 1/29 like they were.

Pretty clear path to victory for England - hope for flat pitches. I was surprised by how easily they planed India's spinners.

They didn’t want Pakistan to make the Semis

The recent record between the 2 teams heavily favours India so I doubt that's the case.

NZ doing well - England 5/254 in the 44th over. Stokes out for 11

All over - NZ's batting is terrible

England have hit a good run of form at the right time, a great effort will be needed to beat them

So I assume if we beat South Africa and stay top of the table we play 4th (New Zealand) in the semi? That is certainly a better outcome than England I would think.
