If Bairstow dismissal is against the spirit so definitely is the voiding of the Duckett dismissal.Life is to be Enjoyed not EnduredComment

I don't believe so. We were always going to knock over the tail once Stokes was gone. They could've brought you and me on to finish them off.
I don't understand how they accept Duckett being clearly caught but finding a technicality in the rule to void the dismissal and then complain that another dismissal within the rule is against the spirit.

We did change our tactics bowling to Stoke. He got most of his 4s and 6s when we bowled on his Leg side. We then started bowling on his off side and the runs dried up and he was very frustrated.FFC: Established 1883

Re: ASHES 2023 - 2nd TEST JUNE 28 - JULY 3, LORDS
It's probably not in the true spirit of the game but as others have pointed out had Carey been standing up to the stumps and a stumping had occurred it would be regarded as brilliant keeping not a controversial one. Close games or even spiteful ones will have people looking for whatever edge they can get. Lets not forget that Carey threw the ball at the stumps earlier in the over and that was Jonny's warning that it was on.
I seem to recall a Shield game where David Hookes was getting shitty about a batsman out of his crease so organised for the bowler to bowl a wide delivery and for Hookes to catch the ball at 1st slip rather than the keeper and then throw down the stumps as a dismissal that was regarded as both brilliant but also controversial. This was done to ensure that it could not be called dead ball. I'm not sure if Hookes had warned the batsman before it or not but in close and tense games those gentleman agreements go out the window.
Back to the wider game, we were the better team for the majority of the game but we bowled and fielded poorly when things were tight along with some frustrating captaincy as well. Smith dropping that very easy catch could have been so costly.
The pats on the back for Ben Stokes from the Australians when he was eventually dismissed showed that sportsmanship is not dead.
The same with genuine concern for Jimmy Anderson when he was struck in the head.
Great game of cricket and the way England went about trying to win it was impressive.
For the the 3rd test I'd consider dropping Hazlewood only because of his workload and just a 3 day break and of course Lyon for Neser and Boland but I suspect Murphy will be selected.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Cummins:
“You see Jonny do it all the time,” Cummins said. “He did it day one to David Warner. He did it to Steve [Smith] in 2019. It’s a really common things for keepers to do if they see a batter keep leaving the crease.FFC: Established 1883

They are supposed to be "gentlemen" so it wasn't historically required. But it looks like they have now forfeited that right. What a disgrace they were last night.

Adam White also gives a good insight into how we bowled and set the field to Stokes.

I heard Ponting getting very frustrated at this aspect of our bowling. Then they put up a graphic showing 95% of his runs had come from the leg side. Not sure why it took us so long to adjust but thankfully we did.Comment

It's good to see Broady returning to his rightful position as the uber-villain - he is the Sean Connery to Ollie Robinson's George Lazenby.
Broady is a masterful troll. I can't help but love the way he (of all people) was winding up the Aussies about spirit of cricket."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment
