So the first test of the summer starts in Perth on Thursday and I think the line-up for us will be somewhat predictable.

The big question might be will WA spectators actually go to it?

I'm really looking forward to watching this series.

I want Pakistan to come out and fight as I think any test team is vulnerable to a good contest.

Not sure I can see Perth fans getting to the match in any substantial numbers. Although school finishes and the weather isn't ridiculous, so perhaps some might show up.

The Warner situation confounds me. He's just not batting that well and if he fails twice should be removed from the team.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Andrew McDonald isn't going to march Warner out of the side, he's not that guy, and despite our recent success I don't think he is the coach to really lead this team and make changes proactively. Warner shouldn't be selected but there is no obvious replacement for him.

Lyon needs 4 wickets to get to 500. Pretty good effort.

That's the issue with Warner, who actually replaces him? the obvious candidates are Renshaw, Bancroft and Harris, if i got it right all average under 40 with the bat at first class level, not exactly busting the door down, in which case i think Warner should hold his spot, not a fan what so ever of promoting a Mitch Marsh, Travis Head or even Cam Green opening up, Opening the batting especially with the red ball is a specialist's role, limited overs white ball cricket is a completely different story.

Would like to see Lance Morris make his debut, but like Warner, does he deserve a spot above Starc, Cummins or Hazlewood? Possibly not, same with Boland who most likely gets a gig at the MCG.

I seem to recall Renshaw doing very well in the early days and it showed he was a player of both quality and concentration. Why did he stall is anyones guess but we should be looking at him against at least the West Indies and we won't.

Here's an interesting look at Warner's distribution of runs across his career versus recent times, and also how he compares with other Australian top order bats:

In the last two years of their careers Taylor, Langer and Slater averages declined between 1.7% and 2.4%, the likes of Ponting, Hayden and Lawry between 4.3% and 5.9%, while Warner's has declined by 8.2%. Katich's average increased by 5.5% as the outlier within that group.

Warner's career average is sixth best in that group.

If he fails in Perth he has to go.

I think Pakistan will come out and surprise us. Their batting is built around a couple of very good players and if they get scores, it'll be competitive. They've also come out and said they'll attack Lyon, which will be a fun battle.

Shaheen Shah Afridi is a genius too, I think he'll find a fair bit of movement in Perth.

I'm in Vietnam so won't see any of this Test (boo hoo) but looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Where in VN are you and what are you up to?

If you're in Hanoi there's a couple of places you can watch, the Puku Sports Bar is a 24 hour place that should have it playing and there'll be others there as well:

Thanks for that! Just travelling around! I'm in Ninh Binh at the moment and then off to Da Nang. Might be able to find something there.

                          Nice one!

Ninh Binh is pretty kick arse and the women who pilot the boats are next level durable!

I was going to suggest an amazing embroidered silk art store in Da Nang but having just checked for a link it looks like it's permanently closed which is a shame. Last review was three years ago.

If you're going to My Son Sanctuary genuinely take the fist private car you can find to get there before the buses. I did that and didn't regret it, as when I'd finished the massive car park was 3/4 full with tourist buses.

PM me for any tips you might need, or if you need a hook-up for travel advice in the south.

Have an amazing time! Hoping to get back there in four months time to do the things I didn't get to do when working so much there (and visit my secret Vietnamese family......kidding).
