Travis Head chases a wide one and is dismissed for 17. We are currently 4 for 217. We need a big score from Labuschagne and Marsh.

Really enjoying the career resurgence of Mitch Marsh. Reminds me a little bit of the way Andrew Symonds resurrected his Test career when it looked like it wouldn't happen.

Pakistan doing well. Need to change up the bowlers - bring in Marsh and Head

Ripper bowled and caught by Cummins and then a lovely inswinger to bowl out Babar for 1. Patrick is on fire

Where does Cummins sit in the pantheon of Australian fast bowlers? I have him ahead of McGrath as the best I've seen. His ability to grab a moment and change the game is unreal

I'd have McGrath ahead of him but it's close. Perhaps in the next year to two he might pass him.

You can only play who and where that's in front of you, but a big part of the decision comes down to who had the more quick-friendly decks to bowl on and who bowled against the better bats.

I don't really know the answer and it might be too early to call, but I feel that McGrath got the better of the wickets but played against more resilient attacks. Cummin's ability to grind out wickets to influence a game is supreme.

It will always be Lillie #1 for me. Impact fast bowler.

People fawn over DKL and it has to be for a reason, outside of nostalgic recollections of a "better time" in Australian cricket where men were brave enough to show off their chest hairs instead of shaving them.

                          He was apparently that good.

GVGjnr - given you're old enough to have seen Bradman in his prime how come you don't have Lillie up there?

                            Davidson had them all covered.
Lillee was a brilliant bowler and so much so that Richard Hadlee copied his classical bowling action but...I don't forgive easily.
Getting injured in a game where you had laid a bet on the Poms at long odds (500 to 1) and leaving a young Geoff Lawson who was getting slaughtered and having to bowl more overs than he should have never washed with me.

For those interested here's a fairly favourable view of the episode:

Lillie and Marsh won GBP 7,500 which is about GBP 28,000 today (AUD 52,000).....apparently just a bit of fun without any mention of injury to Lillie.

Australia were 0-1 up at the time, finished the series 3-1 down.

I only saw DK at the end of his career, and even then I wasn't old enough to really appreciate his greatness. I acknowledge those who saw him in his pomp though.
I'll grant him number 1, much the way most do Bradman as just acknowledgement for his aura.

But for those Aussie Fast bowlers who I've seen in my lifetime, it's McGrath and Bruce Reid ahead of Cummins.

McGrath's growth as a bowler from his debut in 93 to his arrival in the seminal West Indies tour in 95 was phenomenal. He had McDermott go down before the series really got under way and led the attack superbly, and came of age from that point on. I've just never seen a fast bowler so in command of his control and tactics as McGrath.

I also given bonus rating points to guys who can run through sides with big 7 for and 8 fors. McGrath had two of each. The fact he did it most often with other potent bowlers at the other end in Warne, Hughes, Gillespie, Kasprowicz, Reiffel all vying to take wickets from him adds more weight.

Reid, is just a could've been story, and I'm happy to get shot down, given the brevity of his best at the top level. But in amidst the periods where he would break down, he was really starting to stake a claim for being one of the premier fast bowlers in the world. Had he have stayed fit, I think he would've ended up rating very highly indeed as one of the all time greats.
