Buckle up G-Mo, Isn't there a rumor that a Seattle based business is looking to buy the Sacramento kings?
I know it aint the Supersonics, but back it the Rainy City never the less.
Yeah it's looking like a goer. Seattle have got some very good investors with extremely deep pockets. The arena is ready to be built and the Key Arena will house them until it's ready. There are a few conflicting reports around but I think a lot of it is spin from Sacramento PR. Really hoping for a Seattle team next season.

They'll be called the Supersonics and wear the green and gold if the deal does go through.

Very exciting as a die hard Sonics fan while disappointing another group of fans will have to go through what we did 5 years ago.

      .
So all that is needed is Kemp and GP to resign and it'll be like they never left.

Serious question though, who owns the right to the franchise history if a Seattle team called the Sonics is reborn? The OKC Thunder or the new Supersonics?
I'm thinking it would be the OKC team but how confusing is that going to be?

        Re: NBA Thread

Just got Foxtel back on. Just in time to see my Celtics drop out of the Playoffs. Now looking to the other teams for entertainment I just can't get over the amount of injured key players in the NBA ATM.
        Boston: Rondo
        Bulls: Rose, Dang
        Denver: Gallinari
        Golden State: David Lee
        Rockets: Delfino
        Indiana: Granger
        Lakers: Kobe
Clippers: Griffin (playing hurt, limited minutes)
        Heat: Wade (should come back)
New York: Stoudemire, Anthony (playing but sore shoulder)
        OKC: Westbrook

My god the results of some of these games/series would be different if these guys were healthy.
I still believe The Bulls would have taken out the Heat in the East last year if Rose didn't go down. Probably would have backed it up this year too.

Good to see it back in action! I've been considering getting NBA League Pass so I can watch my beloved Cavaliers. Pretty pumped to see how we go seeing as Thompson & Waiters are set to be big improvers with the addition of Jack, Bennett and hopefully a healthy Varejao and Bynum. And of course there's a player who goes ok in Irving.
So along with the re-introduction of Mike Brown, there's quite a bit of uncertainty about the team. At best I think we make playoffs, at worse we suck and Kyrie looks at going to Brooklyn or somewhere (so paranoid after Lebron leaving).

How does everyone else think their teams will go this season?

Still not over game 6 of the NBA finals....it still hurts as a spurs fan. We've been written off again as too old. I give us another shot at it. Kawhi will get even better. This kid is going to be awesome. Will depend on Parker, Duncan and Ginobili. If they can match their output from last season (Ginobili of course improving and not turning it over) then we have a real shot at it as Kawhi, Green, Splitter, Joseph should improve and the addition of Ayres will help the defense

                Ray Allen man!
I don't think there are (or have been) many guys that can just destroy a team in under a second, besides maybe Larry Bird.
Guys like that can go 0 for 12 all game and then hit the game winner, off balance, falling over the base line, with zero seconds into 2nd overtime.

                  Bump

To be honest about all the intrigue this year is if anyone can beat Miami. And besides the Warriors, the teams directly underneath them (Grizz, Pacers, Bulls) all play a brutal brand of ball that isn't viewer friendly.

Having said that the Warriors are AWESOME to watch. It seems like if Curry doesn't go for 35 then Thompson will. Plus Bogut is fit and healthy and good for at least one fight a game. Plus when they get Barnes back that adds the best in game dunker into the mix. Hopefully ESPN step up and stop exclusively broadcasting the Heat. And the Wolves aren't bad either; Rubio is like a basketball equivalent of Gary Ablett with the ball and Nathan Eagleton without it.

The race to the bottom should be fun; for the inundated tanking is not only okay in the US, but supported, and the top 5 players from the upcoming draft will probably end up being the top 5 players in the league in a few years. Although the Sixers were meant to be pretty openly tanking, but they keep winning despite themselves, so who actually knows?

I think the Heat are the best as long as they have the best player, but it all depends on how much the teams at the next level improve (mainly Indiana and Chicago)

It's a tough call to make given they've won the last two championships but I think the Heat are very beatable this year. While they didn't play like it today, I don't think their big 3 are as big anymore. Lebron's still in his prime but Bosh and Wade seem to be getting past the point of consistent quality output which opens the conference right up for the younger teams in Indiana and Chicago. Indiana came pretty close to knocking Miami off this year and I think their potential improvement beats Miami. If all things go as they're trending Hibbert + George + West > Wade + LeBron + Bosh IMO.

Michael Carter-Williams has taken everyone by surprise, from memory the majority of the discussions (at least in the media) were mostly negative. Would be interesting to see if he can maintain it, doesn't appear that Philly know what tanking means. The tanking talk has really taken me by surprise given the investigations in the AFL, surely the NBA would want a similar stance?

It's also been great to see injured players come back and make an early impact. Rose and Westbrook have still got it, awesome to watch. On a Cavs level it's also good to see Bynum back in action. While he hasn't logged too many minutes as you'd expect from a player just returning from a long absence, he has shown glimpses of the old Bynum. Trying not to get too ahead of myself but the thought of Irving and Bynum destroying defences together keeps me watching every match!
