Seems to me we have struggled since Hodge announced his retirement and he also hasnt done much since.

We are not the dominant force we have been the last 2 years, even shield games we have been lucky.
Similar to the Australian team.

Mc Donald i am not sure he is the right man for 20-20 likes to push singles around and that just doesnt seem to be enough in this game.
50 over game he is perfect.

Hodge, Hussey, White and McDonald are all out of form with the bat at the same time, which is compounding the current problems with the team - pretty hard to win a game when 4 of your top 6 are struggling with the willow. Also when the team is batting in T20, there are far too many dot balls conceded - it either seems to be a boundary or a dot, which makes it very difficult to post a competitive total or chase anything down when batting 2nd. The one's and two's are very important to keep things ticking along when the bowling tightens up.

When you really need to accelerate, McDonald just isn't the man.

It's just not his game and it's one of the reasons why he should either open or bat at 7.

Couldn't agree more. I think got injured over the weekend but if that is minor I'd have him at the top of the order.

Get a better batting line up.
Rogers to the top of the order, McDonald to drop down to 7 or even 8.
Get Hodge to play some games in between T20 games because he looks out of touch.
Try and move Finch up the order.
Do we need a fully fledged wicketkeeper?

Looks better, but I would give Finch the opportunity to open with Rogers and push everyone else down a spot.

EDIT. Rogers has a fractured hand and could be out for a month.

It doesn't matter what you guys do now anyway, after tonight we'll have top spot and a home final sewn up - that's if this rain stays away.

Why don't we just drop Hodge? He was once the best opener in T20, but he looks a shadow of his former self at present and his lack of runs in the competition has been costly.

I would look at dropping White down the order. He is a bit of an all or nothing player in this form of the game (especially against decent bowling) so I would prefer him to come in later on in the innings when he can look for the big shots (slog).

Agree with that. I would have thought that this tournament would have been a good opportunity to blood some young players rather than using it as a farewell tour for Hodge.

Possibly, but not a neccessity. It could allow for Finch to move up the order.

I would play Rogers if he was fit otherwise Wade would open.

For the other spot I would play Blizzard, Finch or perhaps another attacking player from the premier league. Gulbis who plays at Carlton seems to make heaps of runs in the shorter forms of the game so perhaps he could be worth looking at.
