Unfortunately it's what he's going to be remembered for by opposition supporters, which is sad as he's probably in the top 5 players on the planet.

Very soft in my books(but i guess it was there), it was a bit sloppy from the Mexican too. Tough on a team to go out on that.

Haven't watched too much of the World Cup. How do you see tomorrow mornings matches going. Have the quality of the matches for those that have watched it been good.

Mexico stuffed it with their tactics, but I felt for them all the same, would have been heartbreaking.

It has been one of the best World Cups ever - probably the best in my lifetime. Already there has more goals scored than the entire Sth African WC in 2010. Quality of play has been high most games, there has been numerous twists and turns within games, and there has been some amazing goals and saves throughout the tournament. Loving every minute of it so far.

Agreed. Mexico certainly had the better of the play prior to their goal. For them the goal came to early as the coach then erred tactically by trying to hold onto the lead. This allowed the Dutch to mount attack after attack on the Mexican goal. It was more a matter of when, rather than if, Holland would score the equaliser. Lucky with the penalty but we will happily take it.

What did you think of this morning's games:

France v Nigeria - though Nigeria looked good. France also played well in parts.

Germany v Algeria - Algeria unlucky. Could have won that game. Experience of the Germans shone through in the end.

Now it is France v Germany - would like to see France get through.

I didn't see Germany/Algeria, but France v Germany will be huge.

I thought Nigeria were pretty solid for much of the game, whilst France were average when trying to pick out a final ball/finish it off. Having said that, France really turned up the heat in the last 15 or so minutes and Nigeria couldn't go with them. It ended up being an impressive win, but they'll need to be better for longer v Germany.

Watching a brilliant match between Argentina and Swiss. Into extra time and still nil all. Argentina doing all the attacking but can't get through

It was a great game. The Swiss had some chances and outplayed Argentina in the first half. To their credit Argentina came back at them in the 2nd and dominated possession and had many more scoring chances. I didn't see the extra time unfortunately (will watch it later) but assume that Argentina continued their dominance.

Belgium v USA - another great game that went down to the wire. You would think being 2-0 up in extra time would be the end of the game but credit to the USA for not giving up and nearly taking the game into a penalty shoot out. In saying that Belgium looked good throughout without the ability to close the game down. A few worrying defensive signs for them, particularly late in the game.

This tournament just keeps getting better and better. Some wonderful Quarter Finals to look forward to:

                          Brazil V Colombia
                          Netherlands v Costa Rica
                          France v Germany
                          Argentina v Belgium

Wow. All teams have a chance to get through to the semis. There is no easy game amongst that lot (as one would expect).

Watched the Belg/USA game, how intense was the extra time.

For such a talented team they are just not making or taking enough chances, though if big Rom brings that instead of his earlier form it's a different story.

Agree. It will be interesting to see what approach they take against Argentina - let them dominate possession and take them on through swift counter attacks. That is where they look good. But they will need to make the most of their chances.
