    Re: Socceroos Thread

Would have taken the draw at the start of the game but after such a dominate performance a draw was a poor result. The tie should be over really. Honduras showed nothing so you'd expect if we can get an early goal Wednesday it could get ugly for them. They look ordinary defensively too.

Did the ref point to the spot for a pen and then change his mind in the first half?

I think the linesman called him over and said "I'd like to not get killed here so I'm going to suggest you saw my flag very early." Can't say I blame him. As soon as he pointed to the spot he would have been thinking "goodness I can't quite believe I'm doing this"
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Spot on. Honduras is the murder capital in the world.
They've done studies you know, 60% of the time, it works every time!

Yep. The ref momentarily lost his mind and he was very lucky he had such a quick thinking mate to help out.

0-0 draw ok but would have liked the away goal. We need to now in the 2nd leg get on the front foot early and score.

We need Timmy to be fit and we need to put it on his head. Its the only way we can score.

Pretty sad we have to rely on a 38 year old legend of the game.

Yep. We are going to struggle for a bit when he goes.

On Friday we told the Columbium guys next door only Australia was playing Honduras in a World Cup qualifier next day. They only had one question. "ohhww is Ca-hill playing?"

The funny thing is I shot my son a look that said WTF is Ca-hill? (They were pronouncing his name car-heeel and I'm thinking he must be a Honduran player.) My son had worked all this out in a nano-second and whispered out of the side of his mouth "Tim Cahill!"

                      Italy have failed to qualify.

Along with Netherlands, Chile, USA, and Wales among others. Some big names missing out.

A World Cup without the Italians AND the Dutch.

                          It just seems weird.

Pretty ordinary Italian team if Darmian gets a start .

It's probably not a good quality to take satisfaction in the failings of others. But I did. A lot of it.

I will NEVER forgive them for 2006. That Australian team was the perfect storm and it's a lot of 'what if's' but I do often wonder how far we would have gone if we had just got through that last two minutes of regulation time (and brought all the fresh legs on for injury time against a reeling Italian team with 10 men).

Careful now. It almost could look like you are criticising Guus. Although it was exciting to have him in charge in 2006.
