Tony Popović is set to become the next coach of the Socceroos, with Football Australia moving quickly to replace Graham Arnold following his shock resignation last Friday.

It was reported on Sunday that Popović had been tapped to take over as the next coach of Australia’s men and multiple sources have since confirmed it to The Guardian.

Much needed win and at least we finally scored but the game in Japan next week is going to be extremely tough. China are terrible and Japan are world class.

0-0 draw for us against Saudi Arabia tonight at AAMI Park. Saudi looked to have pinched it at the end but the goal was disallowed.

We struggled in the first half but much better in the 2nd half.

We had our opportunities but didn’t take them. Makes it a little bit more difficult now.

Bahrain V China to play in few hours a draw there would be a good result.

0-0 draw for us against Saudi Arabia tonight at AAMI Park. Saudi looked to have pinched it at the end but the goal was disallowed.

The entire saudi team surrounded the linesman and not one card!

That’s because no one is sure how the goal wasn’t given. Lucky escape for Australia. Our finishing prior was woeful.

Big game now coming up against Bahrain. Japan way out of top in the group and will automatically qualify and we with a number of countries fighting it out for that 2nd automatic spot.

Not out of it still if we don’t automatically qualify from the group.

We've won 1 game from 6 games in a group with Indonesia, China and Bahrain. It's appalling how much we've dropped since the glory days nearly 20yrs ago.

We might actually Bradbury it and get 2nd place due to the Saudis falling over. It'll be an interesting final round. Japan might rest their remaining matches so won't be guaranteed victors.

With 48 teams qualifying you'd think we'd be automatic but not so.

I think it’s Indonesia home and China away in march. Japan at home won’t be easy, then the Saudi’s away.

Have be be one of the least talented Australian squads I’ve seen. Matt Ryan shouldn’t be playing as he isn’t getting a club game.

That team we had 20 years ago was probably the best national team we had.
