I can't say i've ever actually seen him play. Watching richmond has been pretty low on my priority list the last couple years. Just reading some stuff about him he seems like he's coming back from an ACL but starting to put together some good form and is improving gradually? We really need 1 established key defender, but I don't mind targeting others like this for some depth.

I like him too he's one of two I pulled out from Richmond in MJPs I want what I don't have thread.

If he's ranked in the top 20 defenders in the comp across the last 6 games of the season and he's being actively pursued by 3 clubs he's an upgrade on Gardner.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Nah he'd be targeted by us to play full back next season 100%

I just wonder if he really just wants a bigger deal?
Ridley is a very good player and almost ideal for us but it would be very risky trade and the Bombers would demand a lot in return
          I'd pass for those reasons.

Obviously Silvagni as a free agent would be wise considering no need for draft capital, both him and Ridley have injury concerns but I’d back us in to get them right. Both could be fantastic 2nd defenders and significantly move the needle for us if we get their body right.

It’s time to start taking some risks, what do we really have to lose? We finish 10th instead of 9th again?
I only watched Young for a half live and then on a VFL game earlier in the season. He looked okay from memory and a Tigers mate things he's good enough and has some upside.
The downside is he's 27 and only lightly raced.

Maybe. Could also be argued he is the mature player we need. Has only played 60 odd games but has been in the system longer than Buss and JOD and is a big body at the peak of his powers in the core strength department.

As Gary mentioned he has good mobility and it appears the ACL hasnt impacted his ability to get across the ground.

Had a good read on the Richmond board about him, they seem to think he came back even fitter and faster this year after the knee.

I can’t look past his 2023 season, 9 contested one on one losses from 65 contests. Only players consistently around that mark last 3 years are Weitering, Taylor & Wilkie. Absolutely elite areas there and not a small sample size across a full year.

That alone is enough for me to take a flyer on him considering our huge hole for a player like that, especially considering the price would likely be around pick ~50. A Young & Silvagni combo would cost us a pick 50 and $~1.2-3 a year, not that much more than what we’ll save getting Marra off the books and potential to significantly improve us. No brainer

Throw in a Bond or Budarick for cheap too to dramatically rebuild the backline over one preseason, hit the draft again this year with our first 2 picks for more high end talent and then load up for a crack at Butters next year.

Is anyone confident Sam Power can land a best 22 defender in this window? Kind of feels like SOS is slipping away already.

SOS is gone - he's done a medical at Moorabbin today.

It certainly appears that way. Can’t see him not accepting the Saints offer.

SOS has officially nominated the saints.

Let's see what our plan b is.

Incredible that JSOS would run back to the comfort of his Daddy. Daddy's liitle boy. They played everyone.

What an amazing bit of storytelling and marketing that a player of Silvangi's capability created a bidding war between three clubs. A five year, massive deal for a journeyman. Kudos to them.

Yeah it's a unique case. Pies frontrunners all season. Then we come in as leaders towards the end. Then the saints re-sign NWM and out of nowhere raise the stakes.

Saints are certainly going all in the next 2 years to try and keep NWM happy. If they don't challenge they'll fall into purgatory.

But putting up those kind of numbers for SOS who's ok but no world beater is brave after doing somewhat similar with TDK. They're also wanting to bring in Aleer so it's strange to me they've targeted 2 defenders in an area that they're not particularly weak in. SOS would have had much clearer game time with us given our weakness in that area but it's clear the money is talking! And so is Dad!
