I really hope we dont , havn't watched him much to be honest but dosn't look like the type we need , we need a hard nosed shut down key back , which he isnt in my opinion .
Aleer is more an intercept 3rd tall then a key back , and i dont think we need a guy flying for mark of the year in our back line , if he takes one great , but how many will he drop and make it so much more difficult to clear the ball .

No Aleer for me. Basically another 2nd or 3rd tall and he isn't very good, remember what Naughton did to him on that Thursday night?

He may be someone we can use, but not in the one on one role.

          I'd rather get Geoff Leek.

He couldn't even handle that key forward brute Caleb Poulter.

May as well keep Buku. He's got the same athleticism but unfortunately the same lack of game awareness in defence.

But at least he already knows our system and is capable of playing forward. I really wish Buku could play defence though as he'd fill a huge gaping hole down there.

Obviously we don't know all the facts but if St Kilda convinced Aleer to request a trade and then backflipped it's a pretty ordinary move by them. A bit like Dodo convincing Dunkley to request a trade but not being willing to stump up the required trade currency.

Yeah poor form. Perhaps it's a negotiation move from them. Or maybe the credit card declined? I saw that Wilkie was extended to 2030!

Just listening to trade radio ,and our very own Brad Johnson , talking about Zak Butters trade and , thinking that Sanders to Adelaide for pick 15 , wow , what is it two years down the track we gave away to 1st rounders for number 6 to get Sanders , and now people like Johno think we would give him away for pick 15 , is a bit crazy i think .
Although to be fair to Johno he was trying to work out how the club could get Butters , saying 15 plus our 10 might be a starting point in negotiations .
Honestly if Butters was in play and Sanders was the sacrificial lamb then you would give Sanders up every day of the week would't you ?.

With the Eagles 2027 3rd round pick going back. First trade of a pick 2 years ahead.

There are a few rumours doing the round but I think you have summed it up perfectly. As a comparison when we committed to Lobb we met the Freo valuation and gave a bit more to get it done.

I feel a bit for for Laverde who is making the move north based on the notion Aleer was moving to the Saints.

                          This from 2 weeks ago

Laverde will add needed depth to Adam Kingsley's backline stocks, with GWS set to lose Leek Aleer to St Kilda come the trade period.

Saints haven't been able to get Steele's contract off their books and with us running up Wilkie's contract Aleer's 800k salary is a but harder to cover.
The Saints are paying more for Silvagni than what Aleer is requesting.

Saints are getting bit on the bum with all the money they are throwing around.

Our Wilkie pursuit has caused all this Aleer issue, and it's going to be a bigger issue for St Kilda than just the player. It's obvious that Aleer has been sacrificed because we have pushed St Kilda to the limit on their salary cap just to hold onto Wilkie, which they weren't expecting to have to do.

It's no biggie to not get the player (who is an ordinary 1-on-1 defender), but it is very bad faith business by St Kilda to pursue an opposition player, get them to publicly commit and suddenly drop out leaving that player and his manager in the lurch. This is not the same as Dunkley (or maybe Merrett this year) - these two examples are a club offering something for their target but the existing club not accepting it. By contrast St Kilda have just arseholed Aleer altogether.

We need to keep getting stuck into St Kilda's overperforming and underpaid players and show them exactly what the club thinks of goodwill negotiations. I'd start with Max Hall.

Yet according to Gubby Allen they've got plenty of cash left on the war chest to go fishing next season.

I half wonder if a lot of this from the saints is to build up hype.
